Advertisement Posted January 9, 2022 Posted January 9, 2022 Hi Guest, Take a look here TTArtisan 28mm f5.6. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Guest Posted January 9, 2022 Share #142 Posted January 9, 2022 1 hour ago, Mefty said: As I said, the TTArtisan is quite well built. The Leica although has cleaner engravings (as I produced pack shots with a macro it got quite obvious….nothing to be concerned in daily use…so far), the aperture ring has cleaner clicks (don’t know how to explain it) and doesn‘t feel to loose, the infinity lock (whether you like it or not) is pretty useless with the TTArtisan. It doesn‘t take much to push it out of the lock. Speaking of infinity: In infinity position, the rangefinder is completely of with the TTArtisan. Okay 5.6 at near infinity is no problem at all in the end (in the picture) but looking through the viewfinder it irritated me. After on day of using the lenshood of the TTArtisan shows „lot of“ brass….no I didn‘t bumped it around. All in all the Summaron is built with more accuracy. But again, it is not a bad lens by any means. Thanks for your response , very informative,

Steven Robert Posted January 17, 2022 Share #144 Posted January 17, 2022 Very interested in this lens, I'm looking for a 28mm and this might work good for me, now that I found an 35mm f2.8 Summaron which works great on my M8 with great color and contrast and sharpness. Finding this little gem my work out for me.

pippy Posted January 18, 2022 Share #146 Posted January 18, 2022 (edited) As some of the posters in this thread have written that they have received their copies I thought I'd ask whether anyone else who wrote that they had ordered one has received theirs? Out of curiosity I've just had a look on the 'Bay and there are no entries showing lenses currently available at all. There are only only four(worldwide!) entries which come up in my search even offering the lens and all show exactly the same stock images of the same numbered lens. All 4 are based in China and "estimated" delivery times range between 9 days and four weeks... Philip. Edited January 18, 2022 by pippy
NigelG Posted January 18, 2022 Share #147 Posted January 18, 2022 Advertisement (gone after registration) Pippy - direct sales went live on Monday. I had a heads-up from their customer service team when I asked them about production while resolving a FedEx issue on another order, and placed an order with them yesterday.
Ko.Fe. Posted January 18, 2022 Share #148 Posted January 18, 2022 BH has it listed as coming soon. I'd rather wait and get it from them and have no issues with shipping. 298 USD... Is it made with glass or plastic? Where are some talks about plastic use in cheap lenses.
NigelG Posted January 18, 2022 Share #149 Posted January 18, 2022 It's brass-bodied and made with glass...even the hood is brass AFAIK. I pre-ordered with B+H but imagine they have a long list. Expedited shipping was about the same as NYC sales tax and I'll hopefully get it quicker.
NigelG Posted January 21, 2022 Share #150 Posted January 21, 2022 (edited) Mine is now en route from Shenzhen and has reached the Japan Fedex hub so I'm guessing it will be here long before B+H notify me that it's finally available to collect instore in NYC... Interesting. After your post #154 when you mentioned placing your order I sent an e-mail to Pergear (who seem to be handling the pre-orders from not just myself but a few other members here) informing them of the situation as discussed. This was the message I received by way of a reply; "In these few weeks, we've send lots of email to TTArtisan product department, and the answer is the same. There is a large backlog; "...due to the lack of raw materials causing the delivery delay..."..." I'm sure Pergear are just as keen as I am for deliveries from TTA to be received by themselves so that they can ship them out to those who have ordered one but it seems a bit unprofessional of TTA not to have fulfilled outstanding orders before selling these lenses on the open market. NigelG Posted January 21, 2022 Share #152 Posted January 21, 2022 Well I took the view that if I ordered directly from the manufacturer I might get it sooner - on the basis that unlike Leica they don’t actually have a dealer network who need to keep regular customers happy. All 3rd party sales presumably net them a lower price… Or maybe as I previously ordered direct from TT Artisan on Shopify maybe I qualify as a “preferred customer” 🤷♂️
pippy Posted January 22, 2022 Share #153 Posted January 22, 2022 (edited) Well; "Talk of the Devil" / "Cause and Effect"?... This morning, four hours after having written my post #158 (and at 03:30 so the notification to my 'phone woke me up!.....grrrr...), I received this automated update from Pergear; "Your order is on the way!...Your order is on the way. Track your shipment to see the delivery status...." I have not yet checked to see whether it's still in China; in transit heading this way or wherever but at least I know it's now on its way to me... Philip. EDIT : Having just checked the Tracking Number on the WanbExpress website(*) it has an entry underneath the heading; "Origin (Carrier) / GB : United Kingdom"; "Lastest Event --21-12-16 02:05----Parcel Data Received" As a guess does that simply mean that a UK postal carrier has received notification that the parcel is on its way?... Philip. * New to me! Has anyone used them previously? Any experiences to share?... Edited January 22, 2022 by pippy
agiknee Posted January 22, 2022 Share #154 Posted January 22, 2022 I’ve had mine for over a week now. I attached it to my mp and have only shot a roll through it. Haven’t developed the roll, so I can’t comment on the image it makes but it sure handles well. It’s tiny, and feels solid. Only two critiques I have so far is that it’s so small it’s hard to change the aperture while the camera is up to your eye. Also the hood screw and design doesn’t hold up too well. Just the slightest bump of wiggle with make it offset on the lens, leading it to eventually fall off.

I had the same email from them when i bought my TT 50mm f0.95 ,as i recall it arrived pretty quickly after that [4 or 5 days] ,i checked the tracking and it had a chinese name at first but shortly after had "avonmouth" my local royal mail depot and was delivered by them either that day or the next. Very similar experience with my 7 artisans 75mm lens and again royal mail. Both my lenses were in stock already when ordered and i was amazed how quickly the arrived. NigelG Posted January 22, 2022 Share #156 Posted January 22, 2022 Mine has cleared import in Memphis - so less that 48hr from the factory to US customs clearance, but will apparently now take FedEx till Jan 31st to get it from Memphis to NYC (having paid for FedEx Expedited shipping 😡)

On the upside, Nigel, I find it rather charming to know that FedEx are still relying on the serives of the Pony Express. Philip. NigelG Posted January 23, 2022 Share #158 Posted January 23, 2022 (edited) Except of course the Pony Express never made it to NYC...not a good omen tbh 🙄 Edit - it has at least left Memphis now 😀 Edited January 23, 2022 by NigelG
NigelG Posted January 24, 2022 Share #159 Posted January 24, 2022 Well they must have got a faster horse as the lens arrived this morning so basically 7 days from placing the order... First impressions - very nicely made from brass, dense and hefty with good quality satin chrome finishing. Nice slide on cap and very nice shallow brass rear cap - the only issue being that if you change lenses (like when I switched out my 28 Summicron ASPH v2 to mount it) you can't use the cap on the lens you've taken off...🙄 My copy seems to match the RF calibration on my M240P + Edition 60s but seems a tad out at nearer distances (as far as one can really tell with a 28 at f5.6) on my M9M. Given that that's the body I'll probably use it on the most I might try tweaking it - it is adjustable like their other M lenses. Seems to be easily sharp enough in the centre but I haven't really tested it yet - although I don't think I'll be using it for anything where across-frame sharpness is at all critical.
pippy Posted January 24, 2022 Share #160 Posted January 24, 2022 Probably used one of those new-fangled 'Iron Horse' things that I've heard folks talk about... Seven days start to finish is rather impressive! I haven't had a look to see what status mine has since the e-mail arrived a couple of days ago but it will arrive when it arrives and that's pretty much all there is to it. I wonder why there seems to be a fashion for shallow rear caps these days. The Light Lens Lab '8 Element' 35mm Summicron re-creation I picked up a fortnight ago also has a short-depth metal rear cap. I bought a few generic M-mount rear caps last week partly so that I can use one for the 8-E when it comes out to play if I have other lenses in the bag. I suppose I should ear-mark another for the TTA. Slightly disappointed to read that your TTA might need some fine adjustment. I, too, will be expecting to use mine primarily with an M Monochrom and it would be interesting to know what its distance-performance stopped-down would be like if the lens was calibrated to work 'properly' wide-open and close up. I suppose I will find out the situation for myself in due course. Watch This Space... Philip.
