Does happen, did happen, and that was mentioned in this very thread several times.

So am I.....a Sigma FP owner and user..I really luv this camera concept..but in many ways..its a dog too..but the files and concept..are spot on.

If someone says its a dog..I'm not gonna get my panties all bunched up..and feel like my feelings have been hurt or some stupid reaction like that..

Everyone on YT luvs the 45mm on it..I do too..but..in some ways..that lens is a dog too..not sharp..and I'm not a sharpness freak at all..but the resolution..well...

But I got the lens free with the Sigma kit. So who am I to complain.

I really dont get why people take their opinions and cameras so seriously..

Because what you are posting is personal opinion, not fact. Secondly, you seem to have never held a Pixii. So your personal opinion is even LESS valid.

I have criticised something about Pixii. I think what is wrong about your multiple posts is that you are criticising someone who ACTUALLY bought the camera and took the trouble to report their FACTUAL findings to the rest of us here.

Its not lying to the world..its keeping your mouth shut..if you dont want to put a knife in that companies heart. And hurt them business wise (I cant believe I'm sticking up for Pixii..lol).

Like if someone asks if they look great today in their ugly new polka dot dress in front of a crowd of people..but they look horrible..

Probably best to keep your mouth shut..if you care about that person..

And let them know in private..

Again..Pixii is like an Apple product..firmware updates and compatibility...always wishing for.. but..probably never happens..

I wouldn't buy believing this will get any better any time soon soon..it may..but it may not..they had 3 years already..

This one/Pixii is not ready for prime time..and G returned his at his expense..

That says it all..no matter how passive aggressive..his endorsements are.

Basically..G says..

This camera is really nice for some folks....and someday will be great..

But not for me..lol..

In my words..its a 3K dog..

When Pixii decides to make it a cute lil kitty cat..that actually works..

Then I will probably buy it..

TL/DR, & you've already explained why your opinion is likely untrustworthy and best ignored.

I am back from a trip to Norway with the Pixii and the Leica Summicron 40mm.

I had no issue with the camera .

Some pics

@GLAUMAX Great looking images. My CV 40 has been glued to the camera lately. Trying tor resist trying the Summicron just out of curiosity.
How do you like it on the Pixii?

I have no experience with the CV40 but I can only tell good things regarding the Summicron 40 or the Minolta Rokkor. Both lenses are a real bargain on any Leica Camera (tried them on M8, M9, M240...) or on the Pixii. The Pixii has the advantage to have a 40mm frame in the viewfinder. Since the Pixii is lighter than any other rangefinder camera, I think they make one of the best possible combo.

Thank you Laurent.
I don't deserve any credit. The place is for a lot of it...as well as the Pixii.

I have a similar picture with the Hasselblad X1D and the Pixii has nothing to be ashamed of.

@GLAUMAX Very nice photos! Pixii + a 40mm lens is a natural combination. :)

I am not sure of the notion that the Pixii is "lighter than any other rangefinder camera"... It might be, but honestly, I'm not feeling much difference in weight between the Pixii and the Leica M10. They're both quite handy, very portable, and feel good in the hand.

You have a Hasselblad X1D as well? That's interesting ... I have the 907x model. We can compare notes... :D

Laurent,

Those are lovely photos! Thanks for posting them. :D

Interesting that you decided to let go of the Hasselblad 907x. Frankly, I've been considering the same—I just don't really use it enough. But it makes such superb photographs, particularly due to the dynamic range and the quality of color expressed by Phocus (and even Lightroom). However, if I sold my Hasselblad kit, that would net a lot of money to use for other things that I would likely use a lot more. So I'm still considering and working the equations in my head.

Congrats Laurent for the splendid pics of Oostende.

To Ramarren, I really like using Pixii and Hasselblad X1D together. When I read some people expressing that the Pixii software is still experimental and not mature at all, I want to answer : try the Hasselbald and you will understand what an experimental software is 😉

I nevertheless keep the Hasselblad that I like using in 6x6 or 24x65 (Xpan) crop mode only. The image quality is just fantastic. I also use and like the Leica S (007) but almost never take it on travel to the weight and size.

Hmm. The Hasselblad 907x software doesn't feel particularly experimental or immature; with rare exception, it works exactly the way it's documented to and does its job well. I too like using the 907x in square mode (33x33 mm on its 33x44 mm sensor) ... with the LCD flipped out flat so you look down into it, like you do with a 500CM and waist level finder.

My only issue with the Hassy is that I have a lot of money in the Hasselblad system (both X and V gear) and if I'm not using it enough, that money could easily go to other needs/projects. I continue to debate what the "right" thing to do might be on this basis ... It changes back and forth over time. ;)

tsleica's advice to lie to the world kinda doesn't sit well with me. The point of a discussion forum is to discuss things about the subject at hand, and to be honest and credible in doing so. Without that fundamental honesty as a given, there is no point to such discussion; when you act in a covert fashion, you subvert the purpose of the discussion.

I think the Pixii is a fine concept and a good camera. It needs refinement, and that takes time, lots of time. Having worked in the development of complex devices for the better part of half a century, I'd say that Pixii SAS has done a remarkable job in a very short time, and I'll keep tracking their progress. The Pixii camera is a very good piece of equipment; I'll likely buy another some day if it keeps improving. The folks at Pixii SAS are great to work with, I look forward to the opportunity to work with them again in the future.

Thank you to those who read my comments in the spirit with which they were offered.

G

Completely agree, the whole point of a forum is to have a discussion, in that way one learns and sometimes oldies like myself have new ideas put in my head that make using my camera or choosing a new item somewhat easier to justify to myself.

Your review I thought was very well written and honest.

The problem with MATE is that every time you change the focal length on MATE you need to go into the menus to change the framing guide as well.

Dependent on the number of changes made that would be a pain. Would be something I would request to be fixed in firmware if possible. If Pixii could read the coding on lenses that would be great.
