Norddjord Posted May 3, 2021 Share #1 Posted May 3, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I updated my Q2 to firmware 3.1. I sometimes see a lag after taking pictures. The screen lags for a little time. Pretty annoying. Anyone seen this bug?
Advertisement Posted May 3, 2021 Posted May 3, 2021 Hi Norddjord, Take a look here Lag after firmware 3.1. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gteague Posted May 3, 2021 Share #2 Posted May 3, 2021 could that lag be the setting for how long to display an image after you've taken it? i turn off this 'feature' on every camera i have as i consider it automated chimping and i don't chimp. /guy
Norddjord Posted May 3, 2021 Author Share #3 Posted May 3, 2021 I actually have the reviews turned off, the lag comes after taking a picture. Using a fast memory card and tried different types
gteague Posted May 3, 2021 Share #4 Posted May 3, 2021 (edited) i'd check for bracketing, hdr, self-timer (well, that lag is before the image is taken) although those should be pretty obvious if on. you should be able to tell by going item by item through the menus whether a setting will cause a lag or not. is it better or worse if you set only jpg or only raw or jpeg+ raw? as far as cards go, a uhs-ii isn't needed and sandisk is nearly always the most reliable choice and usually what the brands use to test with their cameras. /guy Edited May 3, 2021 by gteague
Norddjord Posted May 3, 2021 Author Share #5 Posted May 3, 2021 I actually saved the profile and loaded it again after updating. I will go over the settings again.
acg69 Posted May 3, 2021 Share #6 Posted May 3, 2021 It must be some setting causing this. Mines performs as expected after the update. Haven't seen lag reported anywhere else either.
Parallax Posted May 3, 2021 Share #7 Posted May 3, 2021 Advertisement (gone after registration) I haven't experienced any lag. Hope you get this sorted out.
Max EPR Posted May 4, 2021 Share #8 Posted May 4, 2021 Yes I noticed writing lag after the 3.1 update on a Q2. Because of the buffer, it doesn't really cause any issues. I normally shoot single shot, but it takes longer to preview.
Norddjord Posted May 4, 2021 Author Share #9 Posted May 4, 2021 I think that can be it. It seems fine in single shot but when shooting DNG/jpg and few in a row it lags.
jaapv Posted May 4, 2021 Share #10 Posted May 4, 2021 Could your SD card be fragmented? Run a deep format in SD Formatter.

Instead of a Quick format, an Overwrite format method must be used to defragment an SD card. Do we know which method Leica is using in their cameras? jaapv Posted May 4, 2021 Share #12 Posted May 4, 2021 SD Formatter does an overwrite. (Greyed out because I had no card inserted) Welcome, dear visitor! SrMi Posted May 4, 2021 Share #13 Posted May 4, 2021 OK, I seem to have read wrong information. Both Overwrite and Quick Format options seem to defragment disks. Overwrite is probably there to make sure that the information is properly removed (security issue). Quick Format or in-camera format is likely good enough for defragmenting the SD card. franzi Posted May 9, 2021 Share #14 Posted May 9, 2021 (edited) Defragging an SSD makes no sense. In fact, it hurts its life cycle. Any time you think you need to "defrag" an sd card, what you should do is format it. Don't ever defrag. The process of defragmentation is used in hard drives to organize certain files. Thus, the Write and Read head is less move back and forth. The power of the hard disk is not only faster, but also increases your life span. The Defragment USB-Sticks and SD-cards is, however, completely useless. In these Flash memories, there is no Read head, it is, therefore, no matter where the files are located. The procedure is the same for a SD-card is not only pointless, but also harmful. In the defragmentation as many unnecessary Write access, so that the service life would be reduced in case of frequent defragmentation strong. I would reset the camera. LexS Posted June 1, 2021 Share #15 Posted June 1, 2021 I set pixel mapping to "NO". Once in some days I set it to ON and wait for the short time that pixel mapping takes; when ready I turn it off again and use the camera.
