I found a picture some 'KLM houses'. They form sort of a trademark for KLM and Holland.

Amsterdam hotel window 2010; 35mm; M8 without IR

The background: KLM gave these small houses, filled with jenever, to passengers on the intercontinental business class.

These houses depict famous mansions in amongs others, Amsterdam.

[i myself got three this honest way ; the other seven I have came from markets  ].

Fotomuseum, Rotterdam

How typical Dutch is this then? I see Jack Nicholson, Merkel, etc. in a quite common exposition hall. What can be more global than this? It can be anywhere, from New York to ShangHai. There are more examples of not very typical Dutch scenes in this thread btw, examples of modern architecture in Groningen or Rotterdam for instance

During our travels through France (Perpignan!) and Spain (Zaragoza) we have visited several interesting photo exhibitions in recent years. I can imagine that Leica users from other countries will find the Fotomuseum worth a visit during their stay in Rotterdam. Hence my photos.

Modern architecture - the Netherlands is one of the leading nations in the world in this discipline. Think Rem Koolhaas.

It is not all windmills and wooden clogs here. ;)

Oh that would be ok with me if poster can explain what’s so typical Dutch at the architecture of Dutch-designed buildings in Shanghai or whereever Edited by otto.f

That would be ‘interesting’ in the Netherlands, not typical. Seems to be a German photographer too btw

The Plompetoren, the only remains of the drowned village of Koudekerke (Zeeland province, near the Eastern Scheldt Storm Surge Barrier). Apologies for the windmills  ;)

You're in Wassenaar. Compare the style of the baggy pants in China with the style of some of the ministeries in den Haag ;) Architecture is an export commodity nowadays.

That the photography exhibited is not uniquely Dutch but rather global may be true. Certainly though, modern Dutch architecture is unique and clearly distinctive and is typically Dutch. Known worldwide, its Architects and advanced building technologies are immediately recognizable and held in high regard by the global architectural community. I assure you that work done by Dutch Architects in New York or Shanghai is immediately identifiable to those with an interest in architecture just as works by architects from elsewhere are most assuredly recognized  as German, American, British, etc., in your cities.

Actually the name was Van den Broek & Bakema, a rather famous Dutch architects office.
