I’ve just picked up a Q2 instead of going down the M10 route, but my local store had the Reporter available. It’s actually the specific camera you’ve seen all the photos of.

The green is much darker than the Safari, and although I’m not sure I’d like the feeling of the Kevlar personally, I like the fact Leica always do things differently, because they can.

I snapped a couple of quick photos and thought I’d share...

Last time I checked, the day rate at the NYT was 450 dollars a day, so assuming the typical local newspapers are a fraction of that, it's going to take a lot of assignments to cover this one, lol. I imagine not so many reporters will buy one, but it is a handsome camera...the kevlar sounds interesting, but curious as well as to how it feels in the hand...

I don't get why people are taking the name so literally. You don't have to be a reporter to own one; it's more an homage to reporters who own and use Leica, and the story of the guy who was saved by his when shrapnel hit him.

I think people take it literally because it is an attempt to tie a super-luxury product to a generally working class profession. I think that Leica does it more as an homage than a cynical branding device, but it is clearly both to a certain degree. That does not mean it is evil or that people who buy it are posers, but it is still a little bit funny that it is sold as a tool for a profession that most of the people who work in would never be able to afford...in 1960 an M3 cost 270 USD. Inflation adjusted, that is around 2400 USD today, which is around the price of a good mirrorless camera. Anyway, I am not trying to rain on any parades, I just think it is interesting, and as much as I love Leica, I think it is always important to think critically, especially about marketing and corporate branding strategies.

Hi Stuart, I do see what you're saying but really, if we compare this M-10P model to the other limited editions, it's actually quite a reasonable price, and more interesting to the eye than a standard model.

A name is just a name really. This is just an homage, and a very nice one at that. The high price is what we all pay for the brand and the overall quality.

I agree this model has a pretty low cost penalty for a special edition.   I was looking for an M10-P anyway and this looked like fun.

Josh of RedDotForum and Leica Miami's videos convinced me in a video six months ago to rationalize these special editions as fun not serious.  Besides, I can now instantly tell it from my M10M. The Kevlar has a good grip to it that I like the feel of.

This is the sixth shutter actuation and the only photoshop adjustments are flipping the image since I captured the camera in a mirror. No, it is not how I usually hold the camera, but I wanted it to be a shot of the camera, not my hands. No, I am not a reporter, but the camera still functioned anyway. I plan to fire bullets at it later tomorrow.

*Anything to make a fuss over a new Leica camera. Three clicks of forum fame and a "ha ha" for their trouble 🙄
