It’s likely they’ll make a QM, but they’ll not stop the rangefinder models as that’s the core of the entire Leica history and brand philosophy and will always sell no matter what.

But also, can we all stop worrying about things that don’t really matter that much like critical focus and micro contrast and all that guff (admit I’m trolling a bit here) and instead think about the experience of using an M. The best most awarded most fantastic images ever made are often out of focus a bit, a bit blurry, a lot of technical imperfections. But nobody cares because the stuff going on in front of the lens was interesting.

And to say you can’t shoot a Noctilux on a high res sensor without an EVF is silly. Of course you can. People do.

I dunno. Don’t think they will. Was responding to the comments about M needing an EVF to remain viable.

I must have missed those comments then sorry. Only question (to me) is to know if Leica will offer an M mount camera with built-in EVF to complement its film and digital RF line, not to replace it needless to say.

I have never said  that they will or should stop the rangefinder , but there is a need for a m mount camera with evf

Because you cannot read properly

as for shooting with noctilux , there is a huge difference with m9 m240 and m with 50mp

Didn't read all the comments on earlier pages. My guess is that the M11 will be similar to the M10-R with IBIS. EVF might remain optional as hotshoe-based accessory (including GPS) for additional $$$.

If I had unlimited funds, the current M10-R would be my preferred camera which would checkmark pretty much all I desire from a digital camera at this point. IBIS is nice to have but not a must for me since I know quite well how to work with 40MP FF sensors without having it.

Don't count me in please. I mostly use my mirrorless cameras with manual lenses, M and R ones essentially, and they work fine this way, often better so than my rangefinders i must say. There is some room for both anyway so i don't even understand that it can be an issue for anybody. YMMV.

Both type of cameras would be OK. Even a combined one would be great (if no quality compromise to the RF-OVF).

But not instead of.

Leica is the only manufacture of modern rangefinders remaining.

Let us not wish for them to the last one to quit making RF cameras.

I think it is a bit of hidden treasure that you still can buy new rangefinders made today. I really love that Leica still provides that opportunity to us photographers. ❤️

Nobody's asking for that AFAIK, this would be totally stupid anyway.

Please follow the thread more carefully.

Check the post that I replied to and read slowly:

Is it really bad that my wish for the future M is that it has a high quality EVF instead of OVF?

Guess you missed my comment about trolling?

Anyway, you can still shoot a Noctilux on an M10R. If it has 100mp you can still use it. It’s not a nonsense. Unless it is, in which case please explain.

It rather depends if you use your Leica to take actual photographs or spend your time shooting lens charts, book cases or brick walls. 😄

I did, or tried to do so but nobody's claiming that EVF cameras should or would replace RF cameras here, why would they? Some of us just want an M mount camera with an EVF instead of a rangefinder. As simple as that.

I too would like an EVF camera with the M form factor which was optimised for M mount lenses... with thin sensor cover glass and perhaps special microlenses. But it might be better if it were not made by Leica, since then it would likely be much more affordable. It would be nice to think that Cosina or Zeiss might be up for it.

Feels like Kafka world and going in circles on repeat. :)
