Don’t own an SL lens yet. However, the most unique rendering to my eye at this point is the cheapest full frame Leica option. The Q2. Did you not buy the SL 35? Photoworks Posted December 21, 2020 Share #123  Posted December 21, 2020 7 hours ago, oka said: If you want to show the difference between Leica and Canon, I suggest to shoot photos with wide range of tonality. Matte object or setting in shade doesn't make justice to Leica. I've noticed that easiest way to notice the difference between the micro contrast is to shoot metallic / highly reflective surfaces when sun hits to the surface on opposite direction from the camera angle. Example shots from cars shows easily the Leica look from the rest, also Leica lenses has narrower depth of field so which is evident when the subject and background is closer each other. Humm. looking at the samples provided here I can disagree  for bot of your statements. I think the both perfume great, and if you process them to match there are so little differences . In all 3 images the DOF in shallower in the canon at F2. not surprised. when I compare the Noctilux 0.95 and the summicron-SL , both at F2 the Nocti has less DOF

At f2 yes, Canon seems to be shallower but things change when you shoot wide open. At f1.2 Noct (and Summilux-M at f1.4) has shallower DOF. In SL glass (cron), DOF isn’t its forte and I’ve never understood the marketing hum regarding DOF at f2 looking peers f1.4.

Slender Posted December 21, 2020 Share #128  Posted December 21, 2020 Posted elsewhere (sorry) but SL glass rendering is just on point for me... even with "slow" zooms SL2. 24-90@28mm. 6400iso pushed +1. LocalHero1953 Posted December 21, 2020 Share #130  Posted December 21, 2020 Mine has just arrived (a day earlier than expected - UPS are shifting their parcels.) The Leica store certainly know how to give their customers a warm feeling (while spending large sums of money): an excellent trade-in deal on my SL2, a copy of LFI, a face mask with a red dot (those will be valuable in years to come) and a Leica biscuit - in a box as fancy as the camera box. Welcome, dear visitor! scott kirkpatrick Posted December 21, 2020 Share #133  Posted December 21, 2020 (edited) Mine got to the dealer and on to my post box in Texas today. Now for the jump to Israel once a few more Xmas items arrive. I wonder if the fancy box, mask, and trimmings are in the Leica USA shipments as well. I received my USA shipment yesterday. While the camera is fab, it did not include a cookie or mask. I’m not complaining though, ready to slap some M glass on this thing and take it for a spin. Just need that adapter to arrive now. 😊

Ha! I have 35 lux and absolutely adore the way it paints. I also have a 28mm lux on my Q-P, and love it as well. While they are a bit harder to swallow for me from a cost perspective, I guess you could say I’m in the lux camp. I prefer the dreamy/swirly separation with 1.4. Just my preference, there’s so much great Leica glass to choose from...enjoy the journey.
Dr. G Posted December 22, 2020 Share #140  Posted December 22, 2020 I'm not a 28mm guy, usually 50 is what I shoot with most. I like the rendering of the CV 40 1.2, so ultimate sharpness isn't my goal with this one.
