In third / last picture the metallic statues 3D look / pop can’t be accomplished in post on canon files.

At f2 yes, Canon seems to be shallower but things change when you shoot wide open. At f1.2 Noct (and Summilux-M at f1.4) has shallower DOF.

In SL glass (cron), DOF isn’t its forte and I’ve never understood the marketing hum regarding DOF at f2 looking peers f1.4.

It must be me, but I can  not see your 3D Pop difference

and the canon is on manual exposure but the SL2 is on Aperture priority..quite a difference in exposures between the shots

Posted elsewhere (sorry) but SL glass rendering is just on point for me... even with "slow" zooms

SL2. 24-90@28mm. 6400iso pushed +1. Compression to 1.8mb from 87mb....

It's funny, because in one thread I had the exposures matched and was criticized for not having the shutter speeds matched, even though the histograms looked similar.  Now it's the inverse.  I get what you are saying, though.  The two systems are now really close.

Mine has just arrived (a day earlier than expected - UPS are shifting their parcels.)

The Leica store certainly know how to give their customers a warm feeling (while spending large sums of money): an excellent trade-in deal on my SL2, a copy of LFI, a face mask with a red dot (those will be valuable in years to come) and a Leica biscuit - in a box as fancy as the camera box.

Are you going to put a piece of black tape over the dot on your mask? ;)

Mine got to the dealer and on to my post box in Texas today.  Now for the jump to Israel once a few more Xmas items arrive.  I wonder if the fancy box, mask,  and trimmings are in the Leica USA shipments as well.

The f/1.4 look is not in the blur, it's in the roll-off.

I received my USA shipment yesterday. While the camera is fab, it did not include a cookie or mask. I’m not complaining though, ready to slap some M glass on this thing and take it for a spin. Just need that adapter to arrive now. 😊

I didn't get a cookie or mask either - I'm a little bitter ;)

So, if I'm going to start going down the M glass route, where do I start?

First chose between 28 - 35 - 50

Then decide if you want a sharp modern bite look, or a soft, glowy vintage vibe. Then we’ll tell you which one to get ! Your life will change.

Ha! I have 35 lux and absolutely adore the way it paints. I also have a 28mm lux on my Q-P, and love it as well. While they are a bit harder to swallow for me from a cost perspective, I guess you could say I’m in the lux camp. I prefer the dreamy/swirly separation with 1.4. Just my preference, there’s so much great Leica glass to choose from...enjoy the journey.
