Thanks, and here the original, using LR super resolution and cropping for the eye. Remember: Iso3200, f2 ... the reserves of the sensor and the lens are just insane.

A winter scene from Western Norway - the inner part of the Hardanger fjord. Still without snow below 1000 m or so. But changing light there is...

SL2-S with Canon 400mm f4 DO v2; stitch of four images (handheld), the inner part of the fjord is some 40 km away. This lens is insanely sharp and the optical image stabilisation is really good. A photo taken some minutes earlier with the S3 is posted at

Extraordinarily beautiful images, Helge, both here and in the S thread. Thank you for posting.

Beautiful image Helge. The way you've captured the play of light between the clouds, the sea & the mountains is absolutely stunning!

Over to something very different (albeit taken with the same body-lens combination)... Through the kitchen window with SL2-S and Canon 400mm f4 DO v2 + 1,4x extender: The European goldfinch. A special moment for me since this is the first time I see this bird in Norway.

Cave paintings at Mwiba s. Serengeti, Tanzania.  SL2-S & Leica VE 24-90mm L

Bryson, one of our young Maasai guides at Mwiba & I went on a hike up to some caves in a remote part of the area to look at cave paintings. These paintings are done with resins & charcoal & are an early rock art form which records the history of the area & local tribes' interaction with wild animals. These particular paintings depict Lions, Elephants, Rhinos & an assortment of other wild animals being hunted.

Most experts believe that rock art in Africa goes back at least 50,000 years. However most of these paintings are probably not more than 3, 000 years old, as the rock paintings are on exposed surfaces and in shallow caves (like these) which are open to heat, cold, sun, wind, rain and natural erosion.
