How to upload images: Prepare the image as follows: 1.   The image should be sRGB and 8-bits 2.   Reduce the size to 2048 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended) 3.   Sharpen properly for screen. 4.   Save as JPG to your desktop, reducing JPG quality to produce 2000 kB (5000 kB for sponsoring members). 5.   In Lightroom these parameters should be set in the Export dialog. 6.   In the Forum posting or editing box, click “choose Files” and s

I, as a summicron-sl spoiled guy, have honestly nothing to complain about the 24-90 (beside its size 😉 ) and am looking forward to my holiday to get some usage for it.

Thanks Helge. The IQ from the Canon 400mm & SL2-S combination is astounding, even with the 2x TC as in the image above.

I think we had a conversation regarding SL2 vs SL2-S and the Canon 400mm f4 DO with 2x extender some time back. The 'conclusion' - or perhaps speculation - was that the SL2-S shows very small/essentially unnoticeable image degradation with the 2x extender, whereas some image degradation is seen on the higher resolution SL2 sensor. Both bodies/sensor are fine with the 1.4x extender. This is interesting, illustrating that a lower res sensor as in SL2-S has some merits compared to a higher res sensor. Another advantage is impoved low light capability. I haven't tested the SL2-S yet, but it's tempting...

I agree with this Helge. I hardly ever use the 2X extender with the SL2 but have found myself using it more & more on the SL2-S with good results. As you say there's no IQ issue with either camera & the 1.4X extender.  

I've mentioned elsewhere on this Forum, the main benefit that I find with the SL2 is the ability to crop, especially in instances when wild animals or birds are in inaccessible places & difficult to get close to, or I don't want to disturb them.

Re your comment about the SL2-S being tempting, it tempted me and I fell into the trap.....💸

A 1920s roadhouse/speakeasy, which some distant cousins of mine ran as a ski lodge from the 1930s to the 1970s, is being reborn as a restaurant and craft distillery after collapsing completely in the hands of subsequent owners.  I wandered by today and was amazed:
