I use a Berlebach tri-pod and a FLM ball-head (they make tri-pods also).

I think the next step up would be a Sachler tri-pod.

We see the OP of this thread already found a very nice Gitzo solution!

However, for anyone else interested and may want to spend less for a taller carbon fiber tripod for the M10, check the 140$ USD 170cm Carbon fiber tripod (Sirui Traveler 7C).

This Sirui Traveler 7C ( Carbon Fiber) video demonstration was made by someone who himself is 195CM tall. In particular, and other than nice height for those of us that need it, this video also shows another very nice feature that I like about some of the Sirui Carbon Tripods. The tripod legs are weighted so once you untwist the leg, gravity drops the entire leg to its full extension. Seems minor, but in practice very nice/helpful IMO. You can see this feature at about 3:22 in the video.

I have a Gitzo GIGT1545T Traveler Series 1 Carbon Fiber Tripod topped with a Novoflex MagicBall 50 Ballhead that I use with my M camera kit.  The head has a 15.4 lb. load capacity and the tripod has a 22 lb. capacity, both of which are more than adequate for an M camera and lens.

I use the Gitzo GT1542T with the Novoflex Magic Ball Free. The MB Free is an incredibly flexible ball head, and more than enough for my M10 and typical M lenses

I haven't used a tripod with my M10 yet but I do carry a Gorillapod 5k around with me most of the time just in case. I have found it to be extremely versatile and the 5k should easily hold my M10 along with my heaviest lens (CV 50mm Nokton f1.2) as it has held more with my Olympus system without issue.

I also have a nice Manfrotto carbon fibre tripod which I bought for travel but the Gorillapod is all I need for most occasions. It isn't an eye-level tripod though.

I recommend getting a tripod with a Swiss Arca Plate for future compatibility. Some of the proprietary plates can be a pain, and then don't play nicely with other gear. My Oly and Fuji both have Peak Design Swiss Arca plates attached at all times so I can just slide them into my tripod or PD capture clip with minimal fuss.

I hope that helps someone.

Question for the PD’s how’s the usage so far? Does the lack of panning really affect the decision ? How is the build holding up?

I am really torn between the Pd and the gitzo traveler 1.
I see that the gitzo lasting as long as 30 years for some commenters. It’s a lot of money to spend on a tripod , but I guess if it lasts a life time I may want to get the gitzo instead.

thanks

I've always wanted a good tabletop tripod, because the best tripod is the one you actually have with you. I have a decent Gitzo carbon fiber mid sized I picked up used many years ago at a killer price, but rarely use it. So I picked up this Sirui 3T-15k at a local dealer sale over the weekend. It's rock solid, packs small and light, great design and Leica tolerance build. Looking forward to having it along in Feb for our next Kauai vacation.

I don't use a tripod very often and usually only for longer exposure landscapes, night sky, and sometimes for auto racing.  I have a nice heavy-duty Manfrotto that I used when I had bigger cameras and also have a Manfrotto Traveller that's fine for the smaller M10 and fits nicely on my backpack.  I still prefer using the bigger one, though, since it's sturdier, but is is kind of overkill.

I also like using the shutter release cable at times and find it kind of amusing that the M10 still uses the old-fashioned plunger type that were used in the old days.
