That is special. A good example of the Q2M being a very nice camera. 👏👏👏

Perfect exposure and tones.

I only discovered later that it’s a converted Q2 image. I still think it’s precious and now it shows how capable a Q2 is in monochrome mode. We all know the benefit of the Q2M is superb low light and high ISO performance. Good to see in normal light the Q2 performs.

Small black and white mascot bear (Ty) off my camera bag belt hoops and a cloth badge usually in the back car window ...colouring so apropos for the Q2M.

Genius example of where back focus is critical ...AOT the more usual front focus. Nice.

Thank you. To me, the far focus with wide aperture is akin to "where will I be going" or "what will I be thinking" versus "where am I now" or "what am I thinking" storyline.

I enjoy the look you achieve.  Any tips you'd care to share?

Well, I don't know about tips that might be useful, but I am more than happy to share my workflow.

For the Q2M, I have settled on Capture One for raw conversions, because I feel that it produces better tonal separation than other programs I have tested (ACR, ON1).  However, for stylizing and local edits, I prefer ON1 Photo RAW 2021.  I am especially fond the Effect known as Dynamic Contrast, which I might describe as Clarity done right.  Also, in ON1's B&W module, I have created a custom tone consisting of brownish-red shadows and yellow highlights, both applied very gently.  Add a soft vignette, and voila'.

I think that if I were to spend more time with C1, I could probably get comparable, or at least satisfactory, results without resorting to ON1, but I am very comfortable with ON1's tools, as it is my all-around photo editing favorite.

Q2M w/B+W light red filter (090M)

(preview images on the forum are low res – click on the image twice to load the higher res. Quite amazing how sharp the Q2M is even at f/1.7 and at landscape distances)

Thanks for the compliment!  I tried to move this one, after I posted it.  I accidentally put it in the wrong place.  It was shot with my Q2 in B&W mode, not on a Q2 M.  I really want to get my hands on one of those, just need to save up for awhile.  I have always loved shooting B&W since my process at home days, many moons ago.  Anyhow, sorry for the mistake in posting, and again, thanks for the kind words.

Honest mistake. No worries. Still a very, very nice image.
