The camera really is pretty amazing. Imagine trying this shot with film. You'd end up with grain the size of dimes. Nothing against film, but it did have is limitations.

More than once, in January, I would drive on safe ice in 4 inches of water. It was a very spooky feeling leaving a wake with my car.

You're lucky to be alive. The advice given here is: "No ice is completely safe." Having gone through once myself; being with a group of friends when one went through; and twice having to rescue dogs that went through, I now adhere to that advice.

In Northern MN there are roads on some lakes.
