I'm amazed at how capable the Q2M is for night photography. Recovery of "shadows" is awesome. Full resolution images are way sharper than shown here and in the next couple of posts. This one was 20 sec, ISO 200, f/1.7.

Hi Mike.  I am glad to see someone else has tried star photos with a Q2.  Mine is not the Monohrom.  I was wondering if anyone else had as I was curious if they also had a good deal of coma in the corners and I see your shots do, too.  In a way I am relieved, but also disappointed.  In every other situation that 28mm is so sharp it is scary, but not with stars.  I had actually sent my first camera back to B&H because of that thinking I had a defective lens, but my second camera did it, too.  All that said, I love your shots.  You are using a much lower ISO than I have.  I will have to try that.

I will post some of mine in the Q2 images here section if you want to look in a day or so.

The forest trail ahead is brighter, teasing, beckoning
Come and see where I take you, it seems to say
We wonder. Is it safe. Will it become difficult, dark,
Maybe lead to danger?

And if we go, where will we be, what will we discover?
Surely scents, and quiet sounds. These the dog will know and hear.
But we will not. The woodpecker creating a cascade of splinters,
the eagle silently soaring above know. But it’s of no concern to them.

Perhaps we will find a river, or placid lake.
Or a meadow of golden grass and flowers, a solitary tree.
A mother and her fawn, grazing silently, gently.
Solitude, peace, a wondrous place, meant to soothe the soul.

So the decision is made.
The dog is already on her way.
Do these thoughts of wonder, of caution
this curious nature, belong also to her?

Perhaps. Maybe not. But, we think, probably so.
She is by now far ahead, exploring, discovering
what perhaps will be known only to her,
and that is a blessing of just being a dog.

When I look at Mike’s image I don’t see as much coma as I do trailing stars due to movement and/or atmospherics. If you notice stars in any corner as well as center are smeared in the same direction?

It’s a really lovely shot in my opinion!!

Macro, orange filter. Why is the shadow of the twin lamp upside down?

Silhouette of another lamp (opposite wall) against the light of an iced pool of water on flat roof below?

I agree it is a lovley shot, but look again.  I enlarged the view on my screen a lot and the stars in the upper right flair to the upper right and those in the upper left flair to the upper left,.  That would not happen due to rotation exposure.  See my enlarged screen shots below.

Upper left:

Absolutely gorgeous image and equally beautiful words.

I suppose the only people who look at this section are people who own or are keenly interested in the Q2M camera. That's the only explanation I can come up with for why this image doesn't have about 50 "likes." Anyone who looked at it and just moved on without clicking has no business being on a photography forum.
