She was cute, but tiny! I wonder how she could even move, in case of emergency, with one big gun on each side of her waist and all the other stuff hanging from her?  B)

( BTW, this kind of shot with a "black" subject (the uniform) is always a pain in the neck. All the rest become over exposed! )

Straight from a movie.  But I too often wonder how the police move around with so much gear on them!

"Schindler's List" by Stephen Spielberg is the story of Oskar Schindler, a German entrepreneur, who ultimately found the moral courage to make it a mission to save Jews from murder in the concentration camp, Camp Plaszow, which is located a couple of kilometers just outside of Krakow, Poland. He bribed Nazis and Camp Commandant Goth to provide him with Jewish labor from the Camp, for his enamel ware factory in Krakow. By the end of the war, he was broke from spending his fortune paying off Nazis for Jewish labor. Not much of the camp remains today, but for mostly decaying brick buildings and a magnificent memorial sculpture.

Schindler is buried in Israel. Commandant Goth's granddaughter, upon learning of her heritage, disavowed her grandfather and has devoted her life to Jewish causes.

The picture below is one of the few remaining structures, the 'Grey House', which sits on the perimeter of the former Camp grounds, which, coincidentally was built on Jewish cemetery land.  I will post some more photos of the Camp remains in the Landscape and Travel section of the forum. Some history below on the house:

Built in the 1920s, the infamous 'Grey House' originally belonged to the Jewish Community as an administrative and residential building associated with the cemetery alongside it. During the war it performed the same function for the SS. It was here that Camp Commandant Amon Goeth had his office, from which he was known to take potshots at the prisoners working nearby (this was explicitly depicted in Schindler's List, with the historical discrepancy that Grey House was used as the set for Goeth's Villa, not office). Grey House also served as lodgings for the camp's SS officers, among them Hujar, Zdrojewski, Landsdorfer, Ekert and Glaser who were known for their cruelty. A house of horrors for the inmates of KL Płaszów, the building held solitary confinement cells, including 'standing bunkers' - tiny cells not large enough to sit in - in the basement. Survivors of the camp reported that few inmates who entered the house ever came out again. Today the Grey House is one of the only buildings connected with the former concentration camp still standing, and remains generally unaltered since the war. Plans are underway to eventually open it to the public in the form of a museum.

Wonderful shots, Rob. You gave me a home sick with your shots of Paris. I used to live about two blocs from your first picture, Pont Alexandre III. I hope you and Mrs “Rob” enjoyed your journey.

Best regards,

Louis

Louis,

We were there for 4 days (not the first time) over the summer on the way  back to the USA from Poland. Paris is just so very, very beautiful. While the weather was quite hot, it was fabulous nonetheless.

Gary, so good to hear from you here. I see you from time to time in some other forums.  :o

We had a good time in this forum couple of years ago! :)

I hope your loved ones are doing great.

Very best regards, my friend,

Louis

Thank you Louis.

Yes, I occasionally check in, see what is being posted etc, but sort of drifted away once I sold the T.

The images here have me wondering if I should get another, really I did love it, and for a point and shoot, outta ya pocket travel camera, well, hard to fault.

Like this, with the CV15mm
