I have started using my Leica M 10 Monochrome with same problem, especially during continuous shooting. red  light blinking and some of the images are not recorded.

Could anyone advise?

Thanks

That sounds more as a card problem. Was it formatted in the same camera as it is used in?

Definitely a card issue. Some of the M10 variants HATE the Sony Tough SD cards. My current M10M does ok with the 128 Sony Tough but goes completely limp when I feed it the 256 – can't even open the camera menu to try and format it. SanDisk cards are pretty safe bets.

Very first portrait session with new M10M. After 4-5 images, boom ... freeze! .. no EVF

The reason in my case was the memory card: Sony Tough SF-G64T (tested with three cards of same type, same results)

I had my first freeze in many months. No 020 and auto sleep mode off, only LV was on. Had to do the usual and remove the battery. I had always thought auto power saving in combo with LV was triggering the freeze. Very disappointing. And I was contemplating a new M10R to accompany my M10M.

This is an old thread but it's July 8th 2024 and Leica have not found a fix for this....seriously ? Has anyone found a reliable fix that they have implemented and enough time has gone by to verify it's definitely a fix ? It's very bothersome and causing missed frames which is pretty unacceptable for any camera, let alone one so expensive.

Interesting thread. I bought the M10M because of the many issues w the M11M only to find this thread still going. Must say, though, after six months I’ve experienced no freezing. FWIW, I’m using a Sandisk 256 gig card. Don’t know if that makes a difference.

I bought my M10 Monochrom new on April 29, 2022. It has version 4.22.23.34 firmware loaded. I fitted a 128G Lexar 1000x SD card. I've made north of 6000 exposures with it since. I occasionally use the Visoflex 020 with it as well.

It has never 'frozen' up. Not once.

I bough my m10m pre own from Leica store in SF last year the Labor day 2023 ,before I jump in this Leica ,I found this freezing issue all around the web and kind of deeply concern about the product , it's high price even used ,but this m10m is too attract me ,since then I only use the Sandisk Extreme Pro 95mb/s 32 gb, till now had no any freezing , I often use the LV with adapter to my old Nikon AIS lenses and no issue ,almost 4000 click now .

Fix for what?  Not one complaint in this thread for two years.

Hi There! I can add my complaint here. My M10M was having intermittent freezing issues, mostly with the EVF (either one), and not at all with just the rangefinder. After some time it started happening more frequently and the battery removal was the only solution. I decided to send it in to Leica earlier this year and they quickly said we have a fix and since I was out of warranty it would cost $1500. I decided to do it as I have no plans for the M11M and will perhaps wait to see what comes next for an M12... Since I got it back every time I was out shooting it would freeze. Although some slight behavior differences, like it now happens without the EVF or LV, it can happen while reviewing images or shooting, and I may even loose images when it freezes which didn't happen before. So now it's back to Leica and I will see what they have to say. If they had said its just the way it is, sorry, I would have lived with it and perhaps tried my luck with the M11 (did they fix it's issues?). But now I am in for more money and no improvement. I am expecting either a refund or a new camera of some kind....

My m10m froze twice, both with the latest visoflex. So I sold the visoflex and till now, steady performance of the m10m.

I wouldn’t blame the SD card though, as the issue only happened with the visoflex. So Leica’s add-ons are not compatible/reliable. My cards are doing fine, as they did on every brand I used, hence I trust them more than Leica, for whom it is just convenience to blame the cards.

Leica freezes. Some cameras more than others.

I myself had the aforementioned problems with the Visoflex: as soon as the camera woke up from standby, it froze. What helped was a factory reset! And answering all subsequent questions with no (do you want to take over user presets etc.). After that I had no more problems with the Visoflex, GPS and freezing on the M10M. I currently use around 10 different SD cards, from slow to type II high-speed: no problems! I had the same Problems with the M10-R, and now: It runs perfectly!
