Mucleica Posted June 5, 2020 Share #1 Posted June 5, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently bought this used 21mm viewfinder. Why are there two frames? Which on is for 21mm and what is the other? Thank you for your help. Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Hi Mucleica, Take a look here Voightlander 21mm viewfinder - frames?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
250swb Posted June 5, 2020 Share #2 Posted June 5, 2020 (edited) The other is the parralax compensation frame, so as you get closer you use the alternate more inset frame. The CV 21mm Finder is very good, brighter than even the Leica equivalent. Edited June 5, 2020 by 250swb
Mucleica Posted June 6, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted June 6, 2020 @250swb. Thank you, that's helpful. So you use the smaller frame once you get closer to the object, right?
Luke_Miller Posted June 6, 2020 Share #4 Posted June 6, 2020 The parallax correction in the ones I've seen is a dotted line below the top frame line to correct for vertical parallax as one moves closer. Since the angle of view does not change as one moves closer, these frame lines suggest the viewfinder might be the 21mm - 25 mm version or intended to work on the M8 with its 1.33 crop factor. jdlaing Posted June 6, 2020 Share #5 Posted June 6, 2020 21/25 combo looks like this: Welcome, dear visitor! jdlaing Posted June 6, 2020 Share #6 Posted June 6, 2020 That one above does definitely look like both pairs for 21 and 25.

You can see that the frames are similar.

As far as I aware, the outer frame is for 21mm and the inner frame is for 25mm and have nothing to do with parallax correction or the cropped sensor of the M8. Cameraquest site has 21/25 plastic VF mentioned on Leica lenses page, but I can't find any photo of it viewfinders page. Picture in OP shows it for sure. Yes, I bought it together with a CV 21mm f4 lense. But I don't know if they were a bundle from the beginning. But I guess for taking pictures to use the outer frame for 21 mm is correct? ETA: The viewfinder was originally sold seperately to the lenses iirc. If your main use for the 21mm is landscapes, you'll find the vf is accurate enough Edited June 6, 2020 by Ouroboros
