cboy Posted May 23, 2020 Author Share #2 Posted May 23, 2020 They both have screw in lens ring
Guytou
cboy Posted May 23, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted May 23, 2020 Im not talking about the filter thread which i know is different as you mention...im refering to the screw in lens ring on which attaches the square metal lens hood https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ass00nSUM0 Anyway ill come back and measure the size of the lens ring on the Leica X Hopefully someone can verify the size of the lens ring on the Leica Q... Guytou Posted May 23, 2020 Share #5 Posted May 23, 2020 (edited) OK, je pensais effectivement au filtre. Le filetage du pare soleil du leica Q semble être 60 mm: http://www.summilux.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=94&t=93763 Guytou Edited May 23, 2020 by Guytou
cboy Posted June 4, 2020 Author Share #6 Posted June 4, 2020 Hi all, The thread of protective ring measures at approx 57.9mm I was wondering if someone can confirm the thread size/diameter of the leica Q lens hood? DwF Posted June 4, 2020 Share #7 Posted June 4, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm curious, why not use the lens hood made for the X 113? I used my X113 without and kept the hood in my bag for conditions where it seemed necessary to prevent flare. The X 113 lens coating is really quite effective. It seems like the Q hood would add significant increase in profile to your camera.
cboy Posted June 4, 2020 Author Share #8 Posted June 4, 2020 I tried looking for the proprietary hood for lecia x 18774 but it is discontinued. The protective filter ring on mine is a bit damaged so i went looking for a replacement, however Leica Miami has only silver in stock. So i then thought about using the leica Q hood which imho looks quite nice and keeps the lens from looking too big. I use my leica x typ 113 for streetphotography so trying to keep it minimal is important i feel.
cboy Posted June 5, 2020 Author Share #9 Posted June 5, 2020 Hi all, I emailed a Leica rep as it turns out that even though the diameter of the thread is the same between the Q/Q2 and X113, the thread pitch is different, so the hood will not work. Unfortunate as I did like the Leica Q hood.
