oudjunk Posted April 22, 2020 Share #23 Posted April 22, 2020 It looks great rendering. This Time is quarantined in my country as well so I can’t go to outside and take photos. I’m interested the news lenses from 35 F1.2 viii and this lens as well. Thanks for sharing.

I have the 21mm f4, bought it for I think $250 in like new condition and it is an excellent performer, extremely tiny and easy to use. Considering it is 21mm, I have no problems with the slow f4 aperture.

I also like the rendering of the lens. I'm quite satisfied so far. Today I was unified again with my M10 after about 6 weeks of Covid-break . james.liam Posted May 16, 2020 Share #30 Posted May 16, 2020 Don’t just post stopped down images in bright light. Any 21 can do that at f/8. Show us wide open shots!! 1

setuporg Posted May 17, 2020 Share #33 Posted May 17, 2020 I someone asked about the 21mm lenses elsewhere here and I suggested the 21/1.8 Voigtlander that I had since I got the M10 three years ago. And they told me there's a new version. And what do you know I now have both. The 1.4 is really great.
Robert Blanko Posted May 17, 2020 Share #34 Posted May 17, 2020 I also have both and I can confirm that the 1.4 is even better. Sharper at maximum aperture and significantly reduced field curvature. Size and weight are not significantly different. The 1.4 is slightly more chunky.

I like the way there's no weird metal hood on the new one, and the plastic one is really cool. I still like the old one, it is slightly smaller. I like to use the Monochroms and when I do I carry a color Leica along, in case great color shows up. So I did a two-21mm-Voigtlander shoot right away when I got the new one and will probably do more in the future... What are you going to do with the original one, @Robert Blanko?:)

But I have good results with Voigtländer equipment. Lytro Illum is a fantastic camera. It preserves real 3D photos. I was fortunate enough to get it new and shoot a bunch of kids shots on vacation etc exactly to be able to marvel at them later. It's a whole different idea of a camera but the execution was marvelous, the UI augurs what the X1D had become. I am glad I got mine new and keep it!
Robert Blanko Posted May 17, 2020 Share #37 Posted May 17, 2020 Regarding your question, setuporg, my 1.8 fell down and hit the pavement some months ago. The lens hood is slightly bent and the focussing now exhibits hysteresis when turning the focus ring. Optics is still ok, which is surprising to me. It’s built like a tank. I guess, a skilled lens expert could fix this, but I didn‘t want to invest more, as I was not fully satisfied with the performance at 1.8. Thus, it‘s now sleeping in one of my drawers next to my other photo equipment.
setuporg Posted May 17, 2020 Share #38 Posted May 17, 2020 I'm sorry for the 1.8 @Robert Blanko but it makes the appearance of the 1.4 even sweeter, and at a lower price to boot!

I opened a topic regarding 21mm lenses and only recently discovered your posts. Nokton photos appear very sharp with colorful rendering. Now after months of owning the Nokton, can you share with us any thoughts? Maybe comparison to Leica 21mm alternatives? Any additional photo examples will be very interesting/helpful for us - 21mm lens hunters 🙂

So far, my only other 21mm M mount lens is my WATE (Leica Tri-Elmar 16-18-21) which I bought quite recently. I like both the Voigtländer and the WATE, but I would rarely take both side by side with me in view of their different main purposes (for me). But let‘s see..
