Schittra Posted March 3, 2020 Share #1 Posted March 3, 2020 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have SEL21, Lux35 FLE, Lux50, and Cron75. 1/3 of my shorts are from 35mm, 1/3 are from 50mm. The rest of them depends on situation, either 21 or 75mm. I recall when I had film cameras. I always had 35mm on my black M6 and 50mm on my silver M6. I think many of us having 2 cameras now. autograph Posted March 3, 2020 Share #2 Posted March 3, 2020 (edited) Similar story here. I have 21 Biogon, 35 Distagon 1.4, 50 lux, 75 Apo summicron and Leica Q. I never carry them all. If I want to go out with one lens, -It is 35mm distagon. It is very good for street, environmental portraits and low light situations. It is like a Swiss knife. It has very good bokeh quality and high contrast even at wide open. (In Thinktank Mover 20) If I want to go with two lenses, they will be 21mm and 50mm summilux or 35/75 couples. -21 biogon/50lux with M camera for new city tours and low weight, (In Thinktank Mover 20) -Q and 35/50mm lux with M camera for new city tours with my daughter who is a good photographer (In Thinktank Lily Dianne Lucido, I use Q, She uses M) -35mm Distagon and 50mm Summilux for dinner (low light, fast lenses) (In Thinktank Mover 20) -35/75 for weekend tours in city that I live for street and portrait photos with my photographer friends. (In Thinktank Mover 20) -For the shoulder portraits, I love to use the 75mm. After 50mm, using lesser and lesser. pippy Posted March 3, 2020 Share #3 Posted March 3, 2020 If I'm going to carry two lenses it will normally be 28mm Elmarit and 75mm Summarit. If one lens is all I'm taking then that would be a last-minute decision based on several factors. Habitually it's the 50mm Summicron but I also absolutely love the Voigtlander 40mm f1.4 Nokton. I almost never carry two bodies. I take the M-D 262 everywhere with me - whether I expect to be taking snaps or just walking to the corner shop - and, usually, will only take the Monochrom out in addition to the M-D when I am intending to spend time doing 'proper' stuff. james.liam Posted March 3, 2020 Share #4 Posted March 3, 2020 If traveling to a city or town that’s on a tighter scale, MATE & 21 SEM. More open spaces and/or need the reach: MATE & 75 Summicron APO
Ouroboros Posted March 3, 2020 Share #5 Posted March 3, 2020 One body (MP) with 28mm summaron-m f5.6 and 50mm elmar-m f2.8 and a few rolls of either Portra 400, T-Max 400 or Delta 100.

Good focal-length pair - that's one thing the Lenny Kravitz Drifter kit got right, despite the fake python skin. https://us.leica-camera.com/Photography/Leica-M/Leica-M-Special-Editions/Drifter __________________ I have two M10s. I don't normally carry them both at once (I have two for backup in case one has to go in for servicing), and I don't normally carry just two lenses either. Occasionally, I have carried both bodies if I am including two uncoded lenses (e.g. 28 and 135) and need two separate menu pre-settings for lens type - I don't have time to be diving into the menus at every lens change . If I had to carry just two lenses, they would be the 21, and a 75, 90 or 135, depending on expected situation and/or lighting. I don't do "normal" - I find "abnormal" pays better.
Ko.Fe. Posted March 4, 2020 Share #8 Posted March 4, 2020 I have way more than two cameras. Different film and digital. I like zooms on DSLRs. Primes on manual focus film cameras. I have three 50 for RF and it is too much. Two 35, it’s OK. One 28, but I like it wider. I used 28 and 40 on M-E and it was awesome. I tend to use mostly 35 on M4-2. It is universal. I don’t like to switch lenses every five minutes. I might leave 35 on film M, another 35 on LTM. And get third 35 and compact 21 for M-E. But 24 might work without VF. It is so complicated:)
m410 Posted March 4, 2020 Share #9 Posted March 4, 2020 International or long trips: 28mm f2.8 Elmarit plus 90mm f4 Macro-Elmar. Short trips: 21mm f3.4 SEM plus 50mm f2 Summicron (hopefully an APO soon). These TWO can easily host a 135mm as well which has long been a recommendation from Leica: 21+50+135.
shirubadanieru Posted March 4, 2020 Share #10 Posted March 4, 2020 I have two cameras (one film / one digital). , and although I have four lenses I only own two focal lengths, 35mm and 50mm, which for a rangefinder are the best focal lengths (others might disagree and prefer 28mm). I usually keep 35mm on one camera and 50mm on the other. If I only had to keep two lenses it would definitely be 35mm Summicron 8 elements and Summicron 50mm rigid, which for me represent the best of what Leica offers in terms of output (classic yet sharp) / size & weight / built quality. If only one? Probably the 35mm for its versatility.
Del-Uks Posted March 4, 2020 Share #11 Posted March 4, 2020 On the go, I usually try to stay as light as possible : - Leica M10 + Summaron-M 28mm f/5.6 + Minolta M-Rokkor 40mm f/2.0 II : ~930g - Leica M10 + Minolta M-Rokkor 40mm f/2.0 II + Tele-Elmarit-M 90mm f/2.8 : ~990g At work, for most events I would need two cameras to be as quick as possible : - Leica Q + Leica M10 + Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 II : ~1’680g - Leica Q + Leica M10 + Leica Summilux-M 75mm f/1.4 II : ~1’900g
tomasis7 Posted March 4, 2020 Share #12 Posted March 4, 2020 for me, 24 and 50mm go long way.
a.noctilux Posted March 4, 2020 Share #13 Posted March 4, 2020 As I write so many times, there are NOT universal two (or more) lenses kit for every situations and/or everybody. In some situations (or somebody's taste/possibility ), one M lens is enough and some others two (or more) lenses are barely enough. Choosing to match the planned photo's project can be hard but when the kit choosen, we must use that kit at best, then renounce the pictures not allowable by the kit. So having lenses which we know well (so take time to learn how those lenses behave), then choosing a kit may turn very simple task. 2

james.liam Posted March 4, 2020 Share #15 Posted March 4, 2020 Big, heavy gear for the M. No ‘right’ answer but if you’ve got well-developed biceps and the combos work, more power to you.
ktmrider2 Posted March 5, 2020 Share #16 Posted March 5, 2020 Travel: 35 C Biogon and 90 Elmarit M. Smallest and lightest lenses I own on either M2 or MP240.
Stein K S Posted March 6, 2020 Share #17 Posted March 6, 2020 I have a hard time giving a ¨logic¨ answer to why I find myself very often with the Cron IV on the camera... and the 50 Elmar-M in my pocket when leaving home. But I do ;-) However, with some second thoughts on replacing the 50 with a 28 or 24 if a city is the main target of the trip.
