Yes, I have one of these base plates which I fitted to my Leica monochrome version 1. It is excellent – and it really makes me ask myself why Leica always insisted – and continues to insist that the entire base plate is removed in order to access either the battery or the memory card. It's crazy – and it has nothing to do with Leica tradition or rangefinder functionality.
Frankly it seems mainly to be a Leica conceit.

The only problem for me is that I didn't bother to get a special half case to accommodate the base plate. I had already bought 1/2 case and didn't want to splash out buying another one.

The Luigi base plate is about 1 mm or so deeper than the standard baseplate and this means that my standard half case doesn't quite fit snugly and so the top millimetre of the display is obscured. However it's not a big problem and in terms of the baseplate – I'm very pleased with it and I have been for a number of years.

Oh wow. Thank you for the replies.

What is the issue if it is not anodized?

He dropped the price to 200 euros ($221) which is $100 cheaper than Leica.

The finish does not quite match and the paint can chip.

If you're also thinking of getting a half case, Arte de Mano makes a half case with a trap door for battery and SD card.  You have to remove the stock base plate and the bottom of the half case functions as a base plate.  Super convenient and protective.

I have one on my M10 and like it a lot. It has also a small bump/grip in the right-front to help with holding the camera.

Love it.  By the way, did you get your M10M locally in the Bay Area or have it shipped in?  I'm high on a waiting list but dealer says no word yet.

I got my M10M from Leica USA online store as my dealer did not get enough and I put myself too late on the waiting list.

Glad you got it.  Hopefully, they will start shipping soon to dealers who, in the end, are the lifeblood.

Agreed. I am trying to support my local dealer as much as I can.

I had one for my M9. Don’t know why I didn’t get one for the M240, but I’ll be getting one for my M10M/R when I get them. I was surprised to hear comments about the appearance since I thought it looked great, then again the M9 was pretty bad, aesthetically speaking and the Luigi case covered up the base in any event (and was the only nice thing about that camera, appearance wise). It seems weird and cheap of Leica not to make one.
