kuad82001 Posted January 22, 2020 Share #1 Posted January 22, 2020 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) It looks like a great idea; not having to remove the base plate every time you have to remove the battery or change out the SD card. Scroll down past the leather case.... https://www.luigicases.com/a000-M-Mates-Battery-SD-change.htm Edited January 22, 2020 by kuad82001
Advertisement Posted January 22, 2020 Posted January 22, 2020 Hi kuad82001, Take a look here Anyone tried or heard of these base plates? Luigi. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted January 22, 2020 Share #2 Posted January 22, 2020 I have one (M240), it works well, fits well and is well made but not anodized. I tried to sell it here, no takers...😪
luigi bertolotti Posted January 22, 2020 Share #3 Posted January 22, 2020 Tried one at the dealer where I bought my M240... doesn't worth the price imho... if you want to spend money with Luigi (casual homonymy.. 😎), go for his cases ; I didn't get one, but admit was tempted... kuad82001 Posted January 22, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted January 22, 2020 Oh wow. Thank you for the replies. What is the issue if it is not anodized? He dropped the price to 200 euros ($221) which is $100 cheaper than Leica.
marcg Posted January 22, 2020 Share #5 Posted January 22, 2020 (edited) Yes, I have one of these base plates which I fitted to my Leica monochrome version 1. It is excellent – and it really makes me ask myself why Leica always insisted – and continues to insist that the entire base plate is removed in order to access either the battery or the memory card. It's crazy – and it has nothing to do with Leica tradition or rangefinder functionality. Frankly it seems mainly to be a Leica conceit. The only problem for me is that I didn't bother to get a special half case to accommodate the base plate. I had already bought 1/2 case and didn't want to splash out buying another one. The Luigi base plate is about 1 mm or so deeper than the standard baseplate and this means that my standard half case doesn't quite fit snugly and so the top millimetre of the display is obscured. However it's not a big problem and in terms of the baseplate – I'm very pleased with it and I have been for a number of years. Likaleica Posted January 24, 2020 Share #12 Posted January 24, 2020 If you're also thinking of getting a half case, Arte de Mano makes a half case with a trap door for battery and SD card. You have to remove the stock base plate and the bottom of the half case functions as a base plate. Super convenient and protective.

It has also a small bump/grip in the right-front to help with holding the camera.

I'm high on a waiting list but dealer says no word yet.

intermediatic Posted February 16, 2020 Share #18 Posted February 16, 2020 (edited) I had one for my M9. Don’t know why I didn’t get one for the M240, but I’ll be getting one for my M10M/R when I get them. I was surprised to hear comments about the appearance since I thought it looked great, then again the M9 was pretty bad, aesthetically speaking and the Luigi case covered up the base in any event (and was the only nice thing about that camera, appearance wise). It seems weird and cheap of Leica not to make one. Edited February 16, 2020 by intermediatic
