I would remind members that this is an image thread. Please use it to post images and possibly to-the-point critiques, but please do not drift into technical or other OT discussions. We don't want to turn it into a text thread.

Isn't part of the purpose of posting images here from a new camera to learn from each other and try to solve issues? The questions raised in this thread are specifically directed to characteristics of images posted here. I guess I'm not seeing the problem.

Not in this thread - it is for display purposes. There are plenty of discussion threads. As I said - no problem with critique or appreciation. But no OT discussions.

There's been considerable discussion about the tonal quality of images posted in this thread. Are we to be banned from commenting about this or discussing one person's technique versus another's? That makes no sense to me.

Just start another thread and post same or different pics there with as much discussion as desired.

Screw the midtones.  Yellow filter used (no pol filter but this one still works).

The APO stopped down to f/2.8 is insanely sharp.  I'll post a link to download the DNG in the DNG thread.

Ok, this is crazy and it doesn't show up very well here, but it looks incredible on my monitor.

Orion.  Full moon about 30 degrees from the constellation.

HAND HELD 1/60 sec, ISO 6400, f/2

50mm Apo-Summicron-M

Some black/white point adjustment and very mild noise reduction in LR.

Enlarged, you can tell the middle star in the sword is not a star (It's the Orion Nebula)
