An incorrigible Scotsman who was/is an oil rig worker who has deep pockets and never seemed to keep a camera for more than a few months before changing to something new and even more expensive. Fond of using auto-complete on his phone with the result that many of his posts were littered with unintentionally amusing spelling errors. He's on the Leica S forum and has given up on us in steerage class. I couldn't locate any recent post from him so either his Thai wife is making sure he takes his medication or he's back on the rigs.

On the GetDPI forum he recently wrote that he thinks he’s been banned here (or effectively so since he won’t change his posting approach).

Neil chimed in 5 days ago in this delightful thread...

We have a phrase for this in the UK .... 'the pot calling the kettle black' ......

One forum passing unjustified and opinionated views on another forum it accuses of the just same behaviour ..... at least a few posters clearly have some insight into the hypocrisy involved ..... 😕

Neil, bless him, did have an unfortunate habit of speaking his mind and a rather dim view of authority and forum 'etiquette'.

As Andreas the forum admin has occasionally had to point out, the forum is his private business and income, and anything that legally or materially jeopardises that will be shut down ..... but only after repeated warnings. The last notorious thread to run foul of this was actually inadvertently started by me ..... about Brexit ...... and ended up in a big slanging match with multiple warnings and eventual closure.

So we are stuck with no religion, no politics, no personal attacks and just general genteel discussion about the wonders of predominantly all things Leica.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that AF is not great sadly, particular portraits where face detection doesn’t quite get the eyes in focus.  Hopefully firmware will make things better.

Also images in low light (iso 3200 upwards) look very noisy.

I’m hoping it’s because I’m still adjusting settings and learning how to use the camera. The photos on these forums look amazing so I’m clearly doing something wrong! 😝

I still seem to be struggling with noise in low light situations. Is anyone else having a similar issue?

Frankly speaking I cannot understand this eyes AF obsession Im reading many times in various topics, with spot and SL2 AF it works perfectly.

Camera has already too much automatic features to me.Otherwise what's the point of taking photos if all done by the camera ?

50mm SL summicron @f2 iso 1600 1/80.Image cropped.No Postproduction.

Are you sure your real name isn't 'Neil' and you are using a fake leica identity ?

Anyone who has been here a while will know what I'm alluding to ...... 😉

I was mulling over how to approach this point. Similar but so different. Neil has a self deprecating sense of humour, is as open as the day is long, finds lovely scenes to photograph and is not at all patient, on any time scale, runs headlong into everything he does. In total, a fun guy.

Artin’s photo acquisitiveness is really the only link.

I’m having a related issue - with my M240 I avoided noise at all costs. With SL2 in low light it doesn’t disgust me. I can imagine printing and liking the noise.
