Anybody worked with ProRes Raw & FCPX already? Searching for a RAW-to-Log-conversion file for the Leica RAW footage.

Am wondering the same too. No update of FCPX and not a single word from Atomos in this regard. Should be the proper way of doing it...First ProRes RAW to L-log and then L-log to LUT at the end of the processing chain.

Until then it is somehow "useless" to go the ProRes RAW way...Sacrifice fullframe advantage and not a color correct workflow.

That's ProRes Raw's little secret. It's very difficult to use in a professional workflow, because of incompatibilities. You are almost always better-off with regular ProRes.

Agree! Using a Sigma fp as main video camera. There you basically only have the option to go either cDNG or ProRes RAW. If you try to output regular ProRes, you are limited to 4:2:2 8 bit...And there is no log available. So that makes the choice easy. However getting to a point of having a correct way to monitor the recording on the Ninja V and after that getting the same picture in FCPX was a pain. Have it now and am somewhat happy, but not willing to do the same research for the SL2-S ... Maybe I will use the later just with ProRes and L-log.

Thanks for your detailed answer! You surely have my curiosity on and I would very much like to see your films :)

However this last point, you can't as of today, unless I have been living under a rock recently.... Leica said (before the SL2s came out, however....) that they were not interested in the RAW thing because the "+" (image flexibility) are largely outweighted by the "-" incredible large file sizes, more grain to deal with in post... and possibly the HDMI port of the SL2(s) cant deal with it? SL2 can output it's 5K mode over HDMI and that is a bit sad....lol. Unless it's the atomos fault.

Side note: If you use AF in 50 or 60 fps, and on top of that in s35, it's incredibly good compared to what it used to be. Nice for gimball work in a pinch.

Sorry for replying to such an old post... But I wanted to ask: Did you mean the SL2 CAN or CAN'T output its 5K mode over HDMI? Since you said "that is a bit sad".
Thanks

SL2s can output RAW video to atomos, in 4k.

5k is only for SL2, it is a format used to anamorphic lenses and allow disguise in atomos monitor

Appreciate the reply but I’m not sure it answers my question.

Thanks though
