According to Jono’s review (excellent, as always, thank you Jono!), we now have the option to turn off Long Exposure Noise Reduction (LENR) in the SL2!
Together with the option of linear focusing when using MF, that makes two very welcome improvements of somewhat nagging issues in the SL. Well worth the upgrade!
... and double the pixel-count + IBIS as a nice bonus.

Turning of LENR can be tempting for some photographers, but the vast majority should ask themselves whether the use of this option once a year is worth the spending of thousands of Dollars/Euros. Having said that, I do think that Leica got it right with this camera.

For long lenses, IBIS can be great. Just one 'problem' left - there are no long lenses in L-mount - yet... (ok, one can add extenders to existing zooms, but there are no long primes or long zooms in L-mount, yet).

Well, that maybe, but for landscapes in early morning and at dusk, LENR definitely limited the number of shots I could take.

Hmm, Openly wondering now, how much I could get for my SL and 55-135mm-TL toward the SL2. LENR+expanded DR is very tempting.

Would you trade in your 55-135m-TL? I would have thought it could make a great 'always-in-your-bag-just-in-case-you-need-it' 70-200 on the SL2.

At 21MP-ish resolution, 500g, IBIS and TL-image quality at least on paper a quite attractive option.

Lately the 55-135 has not been getting much use, the 35mmTL has been on the CL most of time and either the 24-90mm or a 35mm Voigtlander Nokton on the SL. The 90-280mm comes out for event or sports. Perhaps, with the SL2 this might change as the lens is excellent.

Landscapes don't move that much, waiting a few seconds for the next shot will test the patience of the photographer, but not influence the result.

Landscape light can move quite quickly, though. Couple of seconds is not an issue. The complaint about SL's LENR is by people who shoot using longer exposures (SL2, up to 30').

But IBIS can potentially benefit any lens without OIS, including adapted Leica or other lenses, in or out of the alliance. And, if integrated and implemented well, even lenses with OIS might benefit.

Typically, IBIS does not work that well with long lenses, because the sensor cannot move enough to compensate for long lens frame movement. That is why most long mirrorless lenses have OIS.

280mm is longish in my book.

Lenses with O.I.S. will benefit, but only if the camera supports Dual IS.

I was referring only to the SL in this case. Some of the reviews I’ve seen suggest that the SL system is smart in this regard, using one or the other, not necessarily both.
