Ok now I'm ready for proper portrait!

SL2 + SL 90 / F2

Folks...SL lens(es) shine even in adverse conditions. While natural light was good, the background was challenging (busy, close to subject with similar color tones), yet separation is achieved.

BTW not my dog...so definitely wouldn't follow instructions :)

Young Bateleur or Short Tailed Eagle  (Terathopius ecaudatus)  Zuka Game Reserve.

One of the longest living eagles living to about 27 years, they survive almost exclusively only in protected areas. From about 7 years old their colour changes completely, the face turns red & the feathers become black with white over & underwing.

SL2 & Canon 400mm f4 USM DO II with Sigma MC-21 adapter.

Very nice photo.

Beyond the obvious experience and skill of the photographer, as you indicated in prior posts, Cannon 400 mm lens seems to be the best lens for wildlife with SL / SL2.

Always enjoy your background explanations on subject.

Thank you Nicholas, appreciated. The Canon 400mm DO ll is probably the best long telephoto lens I've ever used.

Best,

Mike

+1. Actually, it is one of the sharpest, highest resolving lens I have ever used. In it's rather compact. And the OIS is amazing, even on SL2.

Lovely ,lovely shots .

I can`t remember is it the version one or version two  which you have .

I have the Version one .... lower contrast than the two .

I assume these are manual focus ?

Best .... Michael

Thank you Michael, much appreciated. I have the vers. ll Canon lens.

All the images with the Canon 400mm are shot with SAF, its very accurate on the SL2.

Best
