Between @scroyand @hofo100’s posts, I’m starting to be able to fairly reliably pick out images taken with the APO Summicron SL lenses. Recently, I will look at an image and noticed that it looks like one taken with the APO Summicron SL before seeing what lens was actually used and it seems I’m able to recognize the signature look more easily then I can tell what exact focal length was used.

It’s truly a unique look that can’t be replicated by any other lens but somehow Leica has managed to uniformly apply this look across all focal lengths. This is really quite an achievement.

Two photos with the 50mm f1.2 Noctilux.  First wide open, then stopped down to f5.6.  Hard to believe it's the same lens . . .

A second one. F4, 1/640 and ISO 400.

Of course it’s an hour or so later, the composition, the light and Colour adjustments, etc are a bit different but I seem to prefer the ISO 3200 version.  To my eye the penalty for a higher ISO is very small.
