No experience with the first version of thus lens. But v2 is also very sharp, and with - in general - amazing IS. Still, image blur happens, now and then, so multiple shots are adviceable. IS may also depend on electronic vs mechanical shutter (with the former better than the latter), and the actual shutter speed.

Oh of course v2 has to be sharper and faster with AF.. my SS was 1/400.. (so that’s good enough for this lens with IS)

the IBIS remains off on the SL2 when I use this lens though.. couldn’t turn it on from what I tried to configure

It's the same with vers.2 of the Canon 400mm, only the lens' OIS works & it is good.  As Helge suggests, try some shots using the Electronic shutter.

I've taken to using the Electronic shutter as standard practice whenever I have a long lens mounted & shooting outdoors with the SL2 as well as the CL, there's a marked improvement. I suspect that there's some shutter slap or shock going on, which is amplified by long lenses.

Nice capture. What are your thoughts on 11-23 with SL2?

I own the lens from CL days but haven't used it much as I've been mostly using the new Lumix 16-35 F4. Was debating on whether to keep or sell the 11-23.

On the other hand 20MP is more than enough resolution for most situations (excluding mega prints) and judging from your photo lens seems to work pretty nicely with SL2.

Thanks Nicholas! Yes, the lens is exquisite and light weight obviously. I actually compared the lumix 16-35 with Leica 11-23 with some shots in my backyard and found the images to be very identical albeit a slight cropping capability with the lumix FF lens. I would’ve loved to keep it but
I just sold it last week because I got a GFX 100 and all my landscape work is going to be done using that going forward.. some day I might buy it back because I really loved that lens on the SL2..
