Nice shot Helge. I remember a post you made early in the new year, lamenting the lack of snow. Did you get late snowfalls?

The weather's all over the place.  We're in mid-winter, July's meant to be our coldest month, this morning was 10C & it went up to 22C from midday, same forecast for tomorrow.

Interesting rendering, like watercolors! Did you use a particular post processing or does the main effect originate from the lens / the acquisition parameters?

Good observation, @michali! (Essentially) No snow before New Year, end even well into February. After that, loads and loads of snow, several places in access of 10 m. Plus an anomously cold May, followed by a record warm June. With heavy melting. Strange indeed...

Take care. Sad to read about the elephant deaths in the Okiwanga delta.

The effect is one of post processing with Alien Snap Art, a special software from Alien Skin.

Very sad! The deaths are limited to a particular area in the NW Okavango. Suspicions are that it's either Anthrax or possibly poisoning, there are a few villages in that area, so maybe human - wildlife conflict related.  It doesn't seem to be poaching related, as the dead elephants still have their tusks.

On a more positive note, it's always rewarding to see elephant herds with newly born calves.  This youngster is about 2 or 3 months old  - SL2 & VE 90-280mm L

This is a photo of hope, thanks! Species extinction is very sad and - in the outmost consequence - existential to the species responsible for the extinction. When will we ever learn?
