How to upload images: Prepare the image as follows: 1.   The image should be sRGB and 8-bits 2.   Reduce the size to 2048 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended) 3.   Sharpen properly for screen. 4.   Save as JPG to your desktop, reducing JPG quality to produce 2000 kB (5000 kB for sponsoring members). 5.   In Lightroom these parameters should be set in the Export dialog. 6.   In the Forum posting or editing box, click “choose Fil

I just confirmed my AF theory. Maybe someone else can reproduce this as well. I put the Q2 into manual focus and put it on infinity so everything on my desk was out of focus. I then connected to the Leicas Fotos app and released remotely. The camera caught focus and then took a picture. When I then turn the focus dial, still on MF, the image remains sharp. Hence, manual focus is not possible when connected to the Fotos app? I did not find a menu item to check back if there is some setting to be done on this yet.

 

Edit: There are some people reporting the same issue here. I'll write feedback or report an issue with Leica so maybe they can release a firmware update. Given the Q3 is already out I'm not sure they'll deal with it. Whenever I get close to a Q3 I'll try to check it out there as well.

So, I just tried what I think you did on my Q3.  I linked up with Fotos and the camera would focus on whatever I touched on the screen.  I then switched the lens to manual focus and cranked it to focus fairly close.  I then touched the Fotos screen in numerous different places and the lens never changed focus.  It would not focus where I touched.  That is totally what I expected since the manual focus is a mechanical function on the Q3. Turning the focus ring manually adjusted the focus as it should.  All totally manually.  I could focus close or far or anywhere in between.

Is this what you did?  Did I read your post correctly?

I bought a relatively cheap M9 with filter glass replaced, for the most part I love the CCD color, but the Q2 sometimes just produce wonderful images that the older machines can't!
