Huss Posted March 13, 2023 Share #41  Posted March 13, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) One unmentioned advantage of half cases, is most cover up the battery compartment area of the camera  (M6, MP, M7).  So there is no chance of that accidentally falling off.  Apparently that has happened to some people.

Mechanical understanding has fallen off over recent generations. Kids don't make anything in the garage for themselves to play with or know which way to screw a screw, so no wonder they can't screw on a Leica battery cover with any common sense. Leica really should make it plain in the Manual how to screw a cover on and not just rely on intelligence. 2

Mikep996 Posted March 14, 2023 Share #44  Posted March 14, 2023 Favorite strap is the Leica nylon/rubber strap - I've used them for years on every brand camera I own(ed).  FWIW, it doesn't appear they make them anymore, at least I can't find them listed at the usual camera stores as they used to be.   I don't use a camera case. Camera bag:  I use a Domke FX5B.  If it won't fit in the FX5B, I don't need it anyway.  I bought a fancy (and expensive) leather bag many years ago (pre Domke FX5B) and quickly learned another lesson - a good leather bag weighs more than a good bit of the camera gear!  I carried it out shooting once.  I still have it and I carry my Leica gear in it on the airplane but that's all I use it for.
Leica Filmmatic Posted March 14, 2023 Share #45 Â Posted March 14, 2023 I just ordered the vi Vante sheetline rope strap and a Angelo pelle half case for my M11
dsleica Posted March 14, 2023 Share #46 Â Posted March 14, 2023 no camera cases at all, Gordy's camera straps and Chief Mate leather straps from Hamburg.
Huss Posted March 14, 2023 Share #47 Â Posted March 14, 2023 Advertisement (gone after registration) I like Gordy's wrist straps with the pad, but their neck straps are far too thin and as comfortable as a noose.
jakontil Posted March 15, 2023 Share #48  Posted March 15, 2023 Artedimano still make the best case in my experience and dare to say it’s worth the money, have used other like angelopelle, kenji and some other knock off, that said, i stopped using case since i prefer it slim and compact since 4 years ago for straps, i prefer a slim leather case like one from leica’s, barton 1972, and rock’nroll
newtoleica Posted March 19, 2023 Share #49  Posted March 19, 2023 (edited) Very personal things straps and covers (or not). I use a Billingham Hadley Pro bag (small and medium) Straps - Leica leather ones in black. Half cases - I personally like them, they help holding the camera without having to add a grip or thumb thing and they protect against knocks with the camera over your shoulder. I personally hate knocks and dings on my cameras as it spoils the beauty - same with a car. So I use the Artisan and Artist half cases. Minimal, soft leather, fit well and no 'grip bump'.  Similarly I never use the hot shoe so I like a cover on it as it's an ugly thing. Beauty in design is important in a functional object.....  Welcome, dear visitor! Huss Posted April 5, 2023 Share #51 Â Posted April 5, 2023 I'll happily trade my Leica nylon/rubber straps for the current leather ones Leica ships with their M cameras.
4art Posted August 13, 2023 Share #52  Posted August 13, 2023 (edited) I like the leather Leica strap. Eddycam makes some nice wrist straps and neck straps. I have the Oberwerth wrist strap for M11 and love it. My MP will get a wrist strap.eventually. As far as half case I'm looking at but don't have one. For a case I went with Oberwirth. I have the Leo correspondent and it is a great bag. It's small and holds a lot. I have an M11 with 5 lenses and some accessories and my film M will fit as well. I also have a smaller Oberwirth bag that will hold an M with a lens and a spare lens. Billingham has some nice cases as well. plaidshirts Posted August 20, 2023 Share #53  Posted August 20, 2023 After trying various options I’ve concluded Rock n Roll straps work best for me. They are comfortable and look cool. The one in the photo is cigar brown. Welcome, dear visitor! Smudgerer Posted August 27, 2023 Share #54 Â Posted August 27, 2023 (edited) DeadCameras Slim strap...........I have them on all my M's. Great owner/craftperson to deal with too...... https://shop.deadcameras.com/home/42--slim-leather-strap.html A case? It takes a lot to beat the size/price/quality of the Crumpler Proper Roady II, mine are in Black and Brown and now 4-5+ years old. Two M's with lenses, iPad Mini,Kindle and room for other stuff too. Understated bags that don't say "steal me, it'll be worth it". https://www.crumpler.eu/collections/camera-all/products/proper-roady-2-0-camera-sling-4500 Edited August 27, 2023 by Smudgerer added info'
kivis Posted August 28, 2023 Share #55 Â Posted August 28, 2023 Not sure I like it, but for $44 for an eBay buy, it is worth the risk.

I bought a spare (while they still exist) just in case.
