In any case, it's a very simple job on a simple metal part with not much surface, that you have to try really hard in order to mess up. It could be even done at home, if you have a good way to dispose the chemicals (and strive to be law abiding). My comment was mostly about the fact that, just because the camera is expensive, it doesn't mean all work on it has to be too, even when it's a simple job. You see that with lots of paraphernalia/accessories, even third party, they'll try to charge more for a "Leica version" because they think the owners can take it.
