No, I mean the processing pipeline: ADC, demosaicing, interpolation, etc. If the processor is working at the limit of its capablities, any power fluctuation may introduce artefacts The SL2 should do much better with the new CPU.

Jaap, do you mean that faster data read out leads to lower read noise?

Okay, thanks.  I just looked at the files.  I took a couple of snaps with the same lens on the SL2 and the S1R in the store.  The SL2 files are super clean in high contrast scenes even when shadows are pushed to +100.  The way they behave reminds me of the CL.  Big relief.  Will post them later.

kind of funny. After the hysteria of the past couple of days, this is such a quiet and orderly conversation. Sort of like the morning after a New Year's Eve party....just tidying up for everyone who's gone....😃

What does that mean ? Does Leica face the choice to use either the cut down version of S3 64MP sensor at 41MP or the 47MP Q2 sensor ?

I suspect that Leica built SL2 prototypes with each sensor, and that they decided to go with the 47MP sensor in the end. It's hard to read anything into this. Perhaps the 41 did not meet SL performance targets (which are different from the M, Q, and S performance targets), or perhaps they didn't want to risk availability issues, or perhaps they were afraid that reviewers would mention that it has "only" 41MP, as if the difference is noticeable in an actual photograph.
