Guest Posted August 15, 2019 Share #1 Posted August 15, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) Gang there has been some discussion recently about weather you should edit pictures on the go or wait to get home. My feeling is edit on the go to get the pictures out to friends and family. If for any reason I want to do an extended edit for a print then okay wait and do the edit at home..............I’m also waiting for adobe to release the photoshop for iPad platform, my gut feeling is that once that is released I will do all my edits on the iPad or on my 65” Sam Sunday TV Neil

Gibbo Posted August 15, 2019 Share #2 Posted August 15, 2019 Wait till I get home 🏡 If I’m desperate to post I take a snap on my iPhone and post that.
jaapv Posted August 15, 2019 Share #3 Posted August 15, 2019 Quote 9to5Mac reports, "Photoshop CC for iPad will debut with a smaller set of core features initially and the rest will be added back over time," in an attempt to launch a 1.0 version quickly. For instance, no keyboard shortcuts.
AndreasG Posted August 15, 2019 Share #4 Posted August 15, 2019 For proper editing I prefer a 27" calibrated 4k monitor, if people like to do on a tablet or cellphone, they can do, I won't.
LocalHero1953 Posted August 15, 2019 Share #5 Posted August 15, 2019 (edited) I travel with a laptop (Surface Book 2) which has the full version of Lightroom and Photoshop - I use Lightroom CC (not Lightroom Classic). I cull and edit on the go, and post to social media, send to friends etc. Everything is uploaded to the cloud whenever I get an internet connection, and then everything is available back home where I can do more clever editing - without having to redo any edits. We spent a week with two of our daughters and families in France recently. Using this system I uploaded daily all my photos of the grandchildren playing to the cloud; Lightroom CC allows you to share a link to any group of photos in your photo catalogue - I simply forwarded the link to my daughters and they could download those they wanted to keep. I abandoned an ipad years ago because I couldn't handle the hamstrung interface and software. Edited August 15, 2019 by LocalHero1953

Guest Posted August 15, 2019 Share #9 Posted August 15, 2019 My current work flow since getting the iPad Pro is to upload the M10 Q2 images via the SD card reader to the iPad to albums previously created. I then cull them in the iPad photo app to just keep what I want. I then edit them in Afghanistan and post them. I then save a copy to Lightroom cc where I can mess with them later if need be. The iPad Pro has 1TB of storage and 16GB of ram so supper fast and saves the need of carrying external hard drives as well. All of the photos are stored on the cloud so after the initial cull I reall don’t use very much of that 1TB neil
otto.f Posted August 15, 2019 Share #10 Posted August 15, 2019 If it’s for friends, why don’t you use the Leica Fotos app?
earleygallery Posted August 15, 2019 Share #11 Posted August 15, 2019 If I'm on a trip I'll use the phone for snaps to post on Facebook/Instagram as 'postcards'. Photos on my cameras will wait until I get home. Why are your friends & family so impatient Neil?
ramarren Posted August 15, 2019 Share #12 Posted August 15, 2019 I often edit a few photos while on the road using my iPad Pro just to see whether I'm getting what I want and/or to create a posting for some forum or another. Since I'll edit them at home the same way, it really doesn't matter whether I wait to do the rendering work on my home system or on the iPad. I've completely stopped using Photoshop even on my home system. I'm still using Lightroom 6.14 there, but that will soon stop working (when I buy the new Mac mini and the next macOS upgrade. I'll be using other tools instead (testing RAW Power, Affinity Photo, On1, and Luminar; I've been using SnapSeed on the iPad for a long time now and like it) because I'm pretty disgusted with Adobe pricing and dislike the subscription-only BS. gyoung Posted August 15, 2019 Share #14 Posted August 15, 2019 I just transfer anything I need for fb or whatsapp from the camera and do anything I need for that (a couple of pics every 2 or 3 days). Far better things to do when travelling than spend time editing on inadequate hardware. When home I download raws only and work from them on a decent desktop with a proper monitor. I’m just saying if you haven’t used an iPad for quite a few years then why not give it a bash and see how you get on. I had one of the firist iPads and only used it to watch porn. But this latest beast is IMOO the dogs 😀😀😀😀

Gerry Gerry ipad pro monitor is IMOO is better than my Ezio monitor that I have hooked up to my Mac Pro. Both of which are pretty much redundant now since getting my iPad Pro and Mac Mini hooked up to my 65” Samsung smart TV. The samsung smart TV approach for editing is worth another thread but I will see what the gang from the other side of the pond have to say about this thread before I go and start another one. Neil So you say Neil, so you say, but you are 'out of step with the army'. And in any case time is precious when travelling, leave things till home that can be left. jaapv Posted August 15, 2019 Share #19 Posted August 15, 2019 Agree. Nothing beats a well-calibrated Eizo CG or NEC Spectraview for editing. Displaying the result is another matter. Retina screens are wonderful crowd-pleasers.
Chuck Albertson Posted August 15, 2019 Share #20 Posted August 15, 2019 These days, the only editing I do while traveling is captioning and keywording in a copy of Photo Mechanic I have on a Lenovo laptop, while the details of what and where I shot are still fresh in my mind. If I really need to send a jpg to someone in a hurry (like if I promised it to someone I photographed that day), PM can squeeze out a quite decent file. I'd rather do something else with my evenings than developing pictures.
