I expect to get my Q2 next week.

Just curious if anyone has tried the Kaza half case system from HK?  I like the look of 'aged' vintage cow leather but not a fan of the snaps.  JnK clearly makes the 'Rolls Royce" of cases (you get what you pay for-- isn't that the Leica motto!), but the Lim design enables me to use the dovetail tripod (for if?? I ever use a tripod).  I am using Thumbs Up and want to be sure no interference in using Thumps Up.

After the ADM case is there any consensus of what feels great in hands, aesthetically pleasing and enables quick access to base plate.  I am amazed that none of these cases that screw on  the bottom don't the Really Right Stuff bottom screw system which "folds" up (one half-- on their L brackets) and then you turn and don't need a coin to open nor have to worry about marking... Seems like a no-brainer.

Lims case with alum base plate and battery opening looks sweet and at that price, I keep thinking something must be wrong?

Sorry to bring this thread back, but been waiting for months for my Q2 and given imminent arrival from Germany next week this has become "real".  I have RRS L bracket and Grip, Thumbs up on my M240 for 6 years now and it is a charm-- but yes makes it heavier but given the weight of a Noctilux, what is a few grams...hah

What does the Stealthcase from Tekiac "feel like" in the hands...I struggle with the idea that it is plastic, but intrigued...

Appreciate any input.

I can only answer for the Q, if that helps. Originally, I bought a Lim's half case too, mainly for the grip, and that has held up very well. But I began to suspect the metal bottom of the half case was overkill and too much weight and too thick to be carrying round. So I bought a Kenji Leather case which only has a leather bottom, which I find much better, and much easier to access the SD card. I use a thumbs-up too and there is no interference with my Kenji case.

FWIW, I use a Lim's case for my Sony a9 with the dovetail plate on the bottom.  I do find that plate sturdy and useful, but I do tend to use a tripod about 50% of the time. If I think I'm going to do a lot of portrait orientation shooting, then I do remove the case and install the Kirk L-Bracket. But for everyday use, the Lim's case with the dovetail plate is very handy.

Does anyone have an opinion on the Rufous half case?

https://www.amazon.com/Handmade-Genuine-Leather-Camera-Rufous/dp/B07QYNCV4L

Has no metal grip, but I didn't use one on my Q. Allows easy access to the battery and sim card compartments and you can use a tripod with it.

It also seems pretty good value and you can select your favourite colour!

It looks pretty good. The only thing that would concern me is how the flaps for the bottom compartments are held on. Some of the (much) more expensive manufacturers use magnets to keep the flaps closed. Some use snaps. It looks like just friction in the pictures. It might bother me if the fit were lose and would flap open while I'm walking around.

Ah that is a really good point that I'd not considered. The Lim half case looks good, but it also adds bulk and weight to the camera and I'm not keen on that. I'll look for your Kenji recommendation. I guess its flaps are secure.

The Kenji leather case I have just has a hole in the bottom for the battery port, but it's for the Q so it is only on one side.

I have Q2 with Lims case installed.  Yes the base adds some weigh but the acra integration and perfect access to battery/sd card are fair trades in my opinion plus I don’t need a thumbs up. I am very happy with my choice.

I recently purchased a used Arti De Mano half case for my Q-P. It's well made and beautiful, but the fit is a little tight for my taste. In the past I've owned cases by Luigi, which IMO, are the gold standard for quality hand crafted leather cases.

Luigi case is very nice looking with a price tag to match.  Thx for sharing the link.

I have the Tekiac Stealth Cover from Olaf for my Q and am very happy with it. Finish and quality are excellent and it does exactly what I want it to do, which is building in the grip and protecting unobtrusively whilst at the same time somewhat anonymising it. Not very good photos of it below! Olaf's service is excellent.

Please share pics if you buy one!

Does Luigi differentiate between Q and Q2 or use the same case? I cannot see a special menu for ordering the Q2 on the (rather confusing) web.

I find it hard to choose the color from the website. Moreover it’s not clear to me what customs I should expect and how to pay the customs. (I am living in Germany.)

This holds me back from buying adm.

you are in Germany and Luigi is in Italy.  Both in the EU.   There are no customs borders between your countries, so no duties to pay, no customs documents, and no delays.   Both countries use the same currency so no currency conversions based on exchange rates.  Nothing could be easier.  Pay by Paypal for a safe and secure transaction.

Colours are clear enough on the websites but never accurate because it depends also on the type of light under which you view (and the type of light under which he took his photograph.  . Just use the largest screen you have.   Computer monitors are better than iPad screens in that respect although I mainly use my iPad for much of the initial / quick image preview workflow .

Ordered the LIM and Leica - will compare and send one back.  I don't like the lack of battery and card access on the Leica, but since I can't get a spare battery, may that doesn't matter. :)  The LIM looks handy with the dovetail - not as full of protection, but maybe good enough.  If neither of these is suitable, I'll have to go all in on an ADM. :o

Using my Leica Q case in the meantime which does fit at least and protects the camera.
