As far as cosmetics, the grey paint has a subtle sparkle and matte sheen. It does not attract fingerprints at all.

Leica informed me today (7th August)  that all 700 units have been sold.

Did you just try to order one today? Just curious because I ordered one from my shop about 2 weeks ago and haven’t heard anything yet and I’m starting to get a little nervous that I missed the boat.

Bummer.  😢  It is a beautiful camera and had really sort of caught my eye.

I’m very interested in this camera, too, but I’m in the process of ordering an M9. Have there been any reviews or comparisons with the original M240, yet?

It feels like there has been nothing new lately, even though some people have already got their hands on this. And a few units made it on eBay.

I’d say it’s a standard 240 with a different paint job and 2mb buffer from the m-p. It’s missing the ability to use the multifunction grip apparently too although you wouldn’t know to look at it.

The baseplate sticker declares it as an m-240 so they didn’t go as far to print new versions of them up and when registering it the serial number was recognised as an m-240.

I appreciate the input! I'm studying the M240, and I like that it has a better screen than the M9 and can shoot video. I've read that the multifunction grip can add GPS functionality to the system; not a big issue to lose, in trade for the extra buffer memory. If that is all the difference, and no change in image quality, I'll start researching the M240 more while I contemplate...

Thanks again!

I moved from the M8 so it was a big step up. I was a bit different as I’d discounted  the m240 because I wanted the bigger buffer and don’t have any need for the multifunction. I’ve also disabled video and find the addition to f live view handy like @david strachan

I was looking for an m-p 240 when the m-e was released.

This is a beautiful camera.  Something about the 240 design that I like over the M10.

Agreed.  I had my first experience with an M10 body last week.  My main impression was that it's  unnecessarily heavy/dense.  The M240 feels almost perfect in my hand in terms of size and balance.   And I've come to appreciate it's aesthetic.

I'm waiting to see what the eventual M11 has.  I skipped the M10 because the sensor's the same as my 240, which remains perfectly acceptable.  As for the price of the M-E as a back-up, I'd get the best used 240 I could find for about the same price.

For an M newbie, M-E would be a great choice and I assume comes with a warranty, leaving one more decision to make:  which lens?!?!

The sensor may be the same, but the in-camera processing and output is changed (for the better,IMHO).

Some shots taken with the camera. Nothing special. Again, it is the same sensor and processing train as the normal M240/M-P240
