It's still not available in the German App Store 😞 But the Medium post concerns me a bit:

Zitat

When launching the Remote, Leica FOTOS will always put your camera into smartest mode. For Leica Q2 it is the face detection mode so you only need to frame your shot and tap the shutter button.

What kind of camera is the Q2? I'm really disappointed by Leica, that the Q2 is just a toy camera ("smartest mode"). I hope that there is an "expert mode", that allows to trigger long exposure and use manual focus when releasing the camera.

You can use manual modes, why be disappointed about something you have not tried yet?

My general experience with this camera is that it offers too many "smart" features that can't be disabled. Something I haven't expected from a Leica.

I have just updated my Fotos App via Google Play Store. Now, when I hit the "+" symbol to add a new camera and choose "Q", there is a further choice between "Q1" and "Q2". So I guess, my Q2 is ready to get connected now...  (Android, Germany)

Fotos has been putting the L-mount cameras into a "smartest" mode all along.  Usually it is face detect, with a detection area large enough to also serve as a touch-sensitive area that you can move around the image.  Since I use spot focus and the back button in MF on my SLs, it is annoying to have to put this back after using Fotos.

Apple's app approval process sometimes takes longer than the developers expect it.

But it's not the first time they are releasing a new version. So I'm expecting them to calculate these kind of delay. Otherwise it doesn't make any sense to advertise the release on 3rd of the April if you can't guarantuee tha. It makes us, the custommers, angry. You could also say "the app gets updated in the beginning of April. Problem solved.

I read somewhere the Q2 with app will support GPS. tagging from the phone. Didn't see that in the write up. Hopefully it's in there.

This was the feature I was most looking forward to. Anyone using the updated Android version able to test if that function is there?

Ha ha. Apple validation team can just be the bottleneck.

Or they discover a last minute bug.

Or they just choose to roll out the update progressively. A new App Store feature, 1st day only 1% get the update. 2nd day 2%, 3rd 5%, 4th 10%, 5th 20%, 6th 50% and 7th 100%

Leica Fotos version 1.2.0 is now available on the UK app store. However, I was unable to update the old version (no update showed) so deleted it and simply downloaded the new version.

Stephen

Thank you, sir!  Just checked here in US and also now available for iOS.  Didn't have to delete the app, but was able to update from within App Store.

Just a warning not to get too excited about the iOS app. I may quite possibly not yet know what I'm doing with it 😀 but, after pairng the camera, when I shut down the camera and was invited to turn off Wi-Fi (I think) and chose to do so it turned out I could not get the app again to recognise the camera. Eventually I had to reset the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings and re-pair. Neither can I find a way to keep the Bluetooth connection alive without the app also requiring to join the camera's Wi-Fi network—which seems to hammer the battery. All I really want to do is to control the camera remotely and add GPS data from the phone—all via Bluetooth, rather than Wi-Fi. At present I'm not sure that's possible. On one occasion the camera froze completely and I had to remove the battery and re-insert it in order to restart the camera. All in all, bit of an "experience"!

Please understand I've had only half-an-hour an or so with the app so this may be a little unfair to it! I'll be most interested in the views of others once they've tried the iOS app.
