We're working on reducing them to 7-14 days. Well, it is not true. I ordered the Leica Q2 lens hood on August 26, and by September 23 I got email ( after sending out 2 emails inquiring about the status if delivery) saying that they received my order and it will be sent out . So far I haven't received the hood, it is more than 30 days . When I ordered the hood the web site says IN STOCK. Why it takes you almost a month to acknowledge the order? Why they keep my $ 200 for a almost a month without doing anything? Today is September 28. It is not 7-14 days as you said.

After waiting for about 30 days, I filed a PayPal Buyer Guarantee procedure and then got the shipping notice about 2 days after that. The actual item itself came in less than a week, but that is the last time I order from him. May be I should do the same, file a PayPal Guarantee Procedure. I ordered mine on August 26, now I haven't received mine. It is getting ridiculous!

Those look like Angelo Pelle straps to me. Awesome price/performance ratio, but 20 bucks for shipping of a single strap is outrageous. http://www.angelo-pelle.com/neck-strap-for-leica.html

Ted, So sorry for late reply. Both are leather Leica straps I bought at B&H in the States. I'm sure they're also available on your side of the pond. That brown one is one of my all-time favorites, but I really wish it were longer--doesn't quite work for cross-body wear. Unfortunately, none of the fixed-length Leica straps are long enough for my taste. I have since replaced both of these straps with what I could find in 50" or 130cm lengths--plenty of length to wear cross body and bring quickly to bear for use. I like thin and smooth for easy slide. Good luck in your hunt for the "perfect" strap! - Scott
Willard McCarty Posted September 30, 2019 Share #45 Posted September 30, 2019 Sorry, also about straps. There are several more attractive than the Peak Designs Slider & Slider Lite, but very few long enough, so I have settled on the Slider Lite for cross-body wear. Short (i.e. 1m) straps around the neck don't work for me with a camera as weighty as the M10 and make concealing the camera in less salubrious areas of London much harder. I am currently using the https://www.reddotcameras.co.uk/-tie-her-up-straps/8991--tie-her-up-rivera-125cm-black-neck-strap.html attached to my MP240 and happy with it. Just that the brown strap on that picture looked very nice! I tried other more chunky straps over the years but I use a small bag to carry my M's and the bigger the strap the more the hassle in getting the camera in and out of the bag. With that type of lead time it sounds like a JIT manufacturing operation. You put an order, they manufacture, then send out. Shrug.

It sounds right, except in the website says : IN STOCK, meaning it is in stock and ready to be shipped out. It would be more honest if it says, pre-order instead of In Stock. Kind of cheating to me. I ordered on August 26 2019, Now October 5, haven't received yet. Emailed , no response. Made complaint to PayPal Resolution Center, no response. It is strange business operation they are operating. bad bad bad...
Willard McCarty Posted October 6, 2019 Share #49 Posted October 6, 2019 All that's needed is a note explaining what to expect. The hood itself is well designed, manufactured and packaged, altogether an excellent piece of work.

My purchase was September 2, I haven't received a single email from them. Not even one saying "we got your order." Now it's been 37 days since the order. Agreed, I'd be a lot more inclined to buy the rest of Thorsten's stuff...including the Leica Q guide. Would love a total guide video, I'm sure there's a lot I'm not doing properly. I ordered and paid on August 26. After numerous email with no reply. I made complained to Paypal. Finally on Oct 6 they refunded me. What kind of business operation is that? He basically kept my money for over a month and only refunded after he could not fulfill the promise. I can imagine people show up at his workshop and he is nowhere to be seen. Then few months later , refund the money ! stay away from this guy!

His other services I have used I have been very happy with (at the regular discounted price points!). Being time poor, I found the Capture One Course a godsend rather than spending ages hunting around free and often conflicting resources on line…. one resource, from calibration to workflow that got me up and running ready to explore further. The considerable amount of free content is a useful resource. I attended a workshop which was well organised , everything ran to schedule, got to see a new city and came away inspired. ‘beautifully crafted, made to order - expected delivery time 4 to 6 weeks’ would be better? I ordered one for a Summicron Rigid and it is well made and does the job well, was nicely presented – and took about that length of time. At that price don’t mind doing that for one lens … for the Q love the hood it comes with!
Ted Lemon Posted October 24, 2019 Share #54 Posted October 24, 2019 I ordered a Thorsten hood - got it within the time period specified and it met my expectations. I have not experienced the Thorsten's workshops but enjoy reading his blog from time to time. To denigrate someone's total business over this issue seems a tad OTT to me. But that's forums for you.
snooper Posted October 24, 2019 Share #55 Posted October 24, 2019 I have no clue about the hoods, but I can testify Thorsten's workshops are a very good place to have your pictures and technique seen and commented by someone who definitely has an eye and an expertise for that. I doubt T.O. would be happy about the Chinese delays on the hoods, and I'm sure that should anyone be unhappy with the delays, Thorsten would simply refund. One may have doubts on the ground of this "elephantgate" story or assumed scientologist whatever, but he is a hell of photographer and teacher (as seen from an humble amateur).
T25UFO Posted October 24, 2019 Share #56 Posted October 24, 2019 Just in the interest of balance, I ordered two lens hoods at different points in time, one for the Q and another for my 35mm Summilux. Both arrived promptly. Also bought the small leather desk blotter, which should have shipped from Italy but there was no stock. I explained this was a birthday present and I needed it promptly; Thorsten dealt with it and arranged for the blotter to be shipped express mail from the USA where is was in stock, at no extra charge. His products are expensive, but you know the price at the point of ordering and they are good quality. I have never attended his workshops so can't comment, although no one should make accusations like "I can imagine people show up at his workshop and he is nowhere to be seen. Then few months later , refund the money ! stay away from this guy!" unless they have hard evidence to support the statement.

Xerxes2539 Posted November 5, 2019 Share #58 Posted November 5, 2019 So I sent an email to Mr. Overgaard, because I ordered on Sept 2, and here we are 64 days later and I have received 0 communications and of course haven't received my Q lens hood. 😕
