from IQ2 original post:...

"Someone once said, if you photograph people in color, you see their clothes. But if you photograph them in black-and-white, you see their souls. Black-and-white is reductive. They make the colours disappear so you can focus on the subject. Also, black-and-white is timeless. I’m trying to play with the fact that some of these animals have been around for a million years. Black-and-white lends credence to that."

Recently I was reading a blogpost over on Mike Evans' site, Macfilos about X1/X2 https://www.macfilos.com/2019/03/27/leica-x1-and-x2-a-mono-duo/ by Wayne Gerlach who began with the above quote by noted Canadian photographer Ted Grant, who I had the honor of meeting in Vancouver a couple times with Tom Abrahamsson. Now on to look at these compelling b&w images.

Although I have pursued photography as long as I can remember, one month ago I acquired my first Leica at the age of 73, a Q P. I cannot describe the utter joy of using this camera, so liking the fast lens and trying out street photography for the first time, an experience that has me going back time and again, prowling the streets for subjects.

I thought I might share some of my first images, all taken within  three miles of my home.

I encourage you to post your photos larger than some of the (very nice, by the way).  You're permitted file sizes up to 500 KB and physical sizes up to 1240 pixels on the longer side.

Playful little guy. Using b&w to add focus to eyes/expression. This little guy has personality!
