SL2 - very disappointing wear damage to body cover
paul.bridges.3388 replied to chris_tribble's topic in Leica SL System
The paint is way too soft on both my Q2 and SL2-S. The latter now has rubbing....simply from a few weeks carrying in a soft carry case. I've literally handled it with kid gloves. -
Foolishly tried using the corner of a wet lens wipe. Not to be repeated.
-
Shocked by dust on the sensor after ~20 minute shooting session (admittedly on a sand dune). Was super careful - didn't change the lens and kept the camera off the sand. I can only assume that the 24-90 sucked in from the air. Just sent it back for a sensor clean. Anyone else experienced this?

Would it be impudent of me to say that I’m not taken with the writing on the lens barrel? -

SL 601 video and batteries and other power sources

Interesting. How do you do this? -
Yup: FW2.0 solved it. 👍

I just found that other thread - thanks! Do we know if this is a “fault”? There was talk of returns to Leica for “fixing”.

Recording of the sound. This makes it sound very loud...but it’s barely noticeable with ambient noise. The noise is absent when powered down. IMG_1027.MOV

Just picked up a used 24-90 for my SL2-S. It looks as described - mint. The only niggle is a noise when zooming. It’s like a mechanical metallic clicking, from within the barrel of the lens. Is this normal?

What half-case, if any, are folks using? Much as I dislike adding bulk to the SL2-S (or indeed masking it’s beauty), my previous SL quickly wore the paint. Given my Q2 now looks like I kicked it down the street (!), I’m gonna indulge this new fella. Suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

I had the SL with 24-90 and Summilux 35 M. The faster lens was certainly needed for indoor portraits but I wouldn’t have benefited much from the autofocus of the SL 50 Lux for this work. So, I’d say the zoom auto for good light work plus the fast manual is a good combination.

To what extent has your battery charge suffered for the cold this week? Just the battery is pretty good with the Q2, in my experience. It really ought to be no problem with your landscape photography, assuming you’re not reviewing the shots a lot. But cold can limit charge hold quite dramatically and I guess your camera’s been quite exposed in the holster.

I do know the floor of the holster is removable to accommodate the Leica grip. -

Hand-held: nice.
