Bill W Posted February 27, 2019 Share #1 Posted February 27, 2019 Advertisement (gone after registration) One of my M10 batteries drained to nothing I guess and now it will only charge to 55%. I have cycled it to 0% a couple of times and it sill only charges to 55%. Any suggestions on a cure for this. I tried to search the forum but no luck. Advertisement Posted February 27, 2019 Posted February 27, 2019 Hi Bill W, Take a look here Battery charges only to 55%. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted February 27, 2019 Share #2 Posted February 27, 2019 Cycling to 0 will not be effective on a LI-Ion battery. If anything, it will worsen the problem. It seems like it is broken. Contact Leica for a replacement. Do not attempt to use it, There is a (admittedly small) chance that it will catch fire.

jdlaing Posted February 27, 2019 Share #4 Posted February 27, 2019 Jaap, I am not sure the camera can cycle a battery to zero. I think it will shut down before completely draining the battery.
jaapv Posted February 27, 2019 Share #5 Posted February 27, 2019 Zero for a battery is a flexible concept, either "real" zero, or the lowest software will allow -usually 10 to 20%.

I will see what Leica suggest, I would love just a new battery. Not sure what the warranty is on the battery.
jdlaing Posted February 27, 2019 Share #8 Posted February 27, 2019 I think that’s a conservative scale with still some charge left in the battery.
jaapv Posted February 27, 2019 Share #9 Posted February 27, 2019 You could experiment with a light bulb. But it would kill a Li-Ion for sure.
dugby Posted March 1, 2019 Share #10 Posted March 1, 2019 Have you considered a HW reset in the M10 menu ? To determine if this may resolve your issue. But remember to export your profiles to an SD card before attempting a reset.

But remember to export your profiles to an SD card before attempting a reset. I contacted Leica and explained my issue with the battery. Their response was I need to send in my M10!!. I responded back and said that the M10 works perfectly, the battery is the issue and will not charge to 100%. The form they emailed me to send in with the camera said "do not send in batteries" and I reminded them of that. They said to go ahead and send the battery in with the M10. It is shipping today. I would hope if the HW reset could solve the issue they would have mentioned it. I am sort of nervous sending in a perfectly working M10 but I will. They indicated it must be a problem with my charger even though I did not send in mine. They are sending me a new charger and hopefully the battery will be charged to 100%. They also did the CLA thing on me M10 even though it works perfectly. Cannot complain about the service though.
olgierdc Posted March 20, 2019 Share #13 Posted March 20, 2019 Try with another alternative charger. It worked for me with M9.
Bill W Posted March 22, 2019 Author Share #14 Posted March 22, 2019 Everything seems fine so far. I was a little hesitant sending them my M10 which worked perfect. They did CLA the camera and cleaned the sensor. It said adjust the range finder but it was dine before so I assume they just tested to make sure. Not sure if I got a new battery but it was charged to 85%. They did send a brand new charger. All in all it took three weeks including shipping days there and back.
