leiuser Posted July 19, 2007 Share #1 Posted July 19, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Why do Leica engrave the body serial numbers on the hotshoes for the M5 and M6 instead on the top plates of the earlier M2 - 4 series? Cost-saving feature? The current MPs now have them on the top plates but they do not seem to have the same aesthetics. Consider me an old traditionalist but the best-looking engraved top plates from the 60s' and 70s' are hard to beat.
Advertisement Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Hi leiuser, Take a look here Body Serial # on Hotshoe. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
luigi bertolotti Posted July 19, 2007 Share #2 Posted July 19, 2007 Agree completely.. and not only for the positoning of the s/n... the Leica script old style, engraved on the top of classic Ms, is a little masterpiece I personally miss... to keep it "alive" even for instance in a smaller dimension, had been fine.
