scott kirkpatrick Posted October 25, 2018 Share #43 Posted October 25, 2018 Both Android and iOS apps have been placed on their store sites for free download. Versions are now something like 1.0.n for each.

You need to delete the old one that you got through TestFlight and then simply install the new one from the App Store.
willeica Posted October 26, 2018 Share #47 Posted October 26, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have downloaded the latest firmware for my M10 and have the latest firmware on my iPhone 8. The camera will create a QR Code but FOTOS won't scan it. Any ideas about what the problem is? Am I missing something. William

Thanks. How did you scan? Did you just hold the phone over the QR Code and how did the phone acknowledge the scan? My phone just does nothing when I point it at the code. My Huawei P20 is exactly the same. I tried that in case there was an issue with the iPhone. I got the same result. William

William If it's the same as android (Huawei P10 in my case), you turn the phone camera on, then point the phone camera at the QR code from anything from 3-6 inches (trial and error). Once it realises there's a QR code there, you get a red square on the phone display that tries to focus on the QR code. Hold the phone steady, and you should then get an acknowledgement that the QR code has been read. I can't answer for iOS, but I expect it's similar, and the P20 should work like the P10. There are no signs of squares, red or otherwise on either of my phones. I do recall getting white squares on an iPhone 6 some time back, but this seems to have disappeared on the iPhone 8. I only used the Huawei as the iPhone would not work, but that equally ignores the QR Code. I have, however, got the Leica M app working on my iPhone again. I can't really think when I might need it to do things on a camera that is a few feet away. I would not like to rely on such apps with an M10-D but that whole process strikes me as being dichotomous anyway. William

William I was using an iPhone X, and as Paul stated, I held the phone over the QR Code, and even with poor (low) light it picked up the code. At the risk of over-simplifying the issue, the phone's camera must be on, but you do not have to press the shutter button for it to read the QR Code. Move back and forth until you achieve focus, and you should get confirmation Robert
Nordvik Posted October 26, 2018 Share #53 Posted October 26, 2018 I can not get any closer than this before the QR code is detected. I had to choose both SL and M10-P before I could get a screenshot. If I get closer it connect instantly. (I replied to the wrong thread first, under M10) Welcome, dear visitor! willeica Posted October 26, 2018 Share #54 Posted October 26, 2018 Thanks Nordvik. I tried this orientation, but there was not a budge out of FOTOS, no recognition or reaction. The good news is that once connected through WiFi, the Leica M app gives the same thing. The next thing is that I have to figure out when I would ever actually want to use this as I have an M10 with a back screen and full functionality and so the only added value is for selfies which I don't do. A word of warning to those who want to use this to send photos to others via the phone is that you need to download the photo to your phone and then switch wifi connection to the internet back on if you want to avoid data charges on your phone subscription. I hope that all goes well for those who wish to use apps with the M10-D. I may check back with FOTOS in a few weeks to see if there is any improvement. Well, once they get the bugs out there will, almost certainly, be no more development of the individual apps.... Gordon
Chuck Albertson Posted October 27, 2018 Share #57 Posted October 27, 2018 The release version seems to be a bit more picky about locking on to the QR code of the SL than I remember from the last beta version (with an iPad), you just need to fill up as much of the frame with the QR code and wait for the exposure to adjust. The app (version 1.0.0, which sets off the shreiking violins from "Psycho") still switches on the rear LCD display without being asked. The remote feature works fine, but I still have to figure out the buttons that get called up from the menu button.
Big John Posted October 27, 2018 Share #58 Posted October 27, 2018 Hi all, does the new FOTOS app replace the SL app? The app for SL was v good in my experience, tried FOTOS yesterday and it seemed ok although slower to view files, which I suspect is due to the fact that FOTOS allows access to DNG (where pretty sure the ‘old’ app for SL was JPEG only). I never shot JPEGs and were always able to download and preview my DNGs. But it was a configuration option in the app. With the SL app you’re able to configure it in two different ways though. The same way as the current Fotos app, ie. the camera creates a wireless network, or the camera joins a wireless network. The latter way was a lot lot faster for both, previewing images, but more importantly for downloading images. Unfortunately the simplification of Fotos app led to the first mentioned method only and the camera’s internal “hotspot” is rather slow.

Thanks, didn’t know that about the SL app. Seems like FOTOS is the replacement. Shame for us SL users I think but I guess allows Leica to consolidate onto one app.
