Ildjarn Posted August 17, 2018 Share #1 Posted August 17, 2018 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) First sample is at 1/125 ss. Notice the white stripe near the right edge. It looks pretty much the same at 1/250 and 1/500, however, at 1/60 it's gone. I haven't seen the results at 1/60, but that's what I've been told. Last sample is at 1/1000 and things are much worse there. I am going to make more tests, but what do you think it can be? Shutter? A body was stored without lens attached to it and without front cap covering the mount, so shutter was basically uncovered. However, I couldn't find any obvious signs of damage on shutter. And if it's a shutter problem, repair would probably cost more then a camera itself, right? Welcome, dear visitor! Advertisement Posted August 17, 2018 Posted August 17, 2018 Hi Ildjarn, Take a look here M6 (probably) shutter problem. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
earleygallery Posted August 17, 2018 Share #2 Posted August 17, 2018 Hi, This is either a shutter fault or a light leak. Look at the negatives. Does the streak on both images extend beyond the frame of the negs? If it does it's a leak, if it doesn't it's the shutter. The shutter fault is probably easier to deal with on an M as light leaks can be due to failed seals within the viewfinder/rangefinder unit and can be hard to pinpoint. Ildjarn Posted August 17, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted August 17, 2018 I don't have negs, but looking at the second sample, streak definitely extend beyond the frame.
TomB_tx Posted August 17, 2018 Share #4 Posted August 17, 2018 Could be a shutter issue, say a dragging curtain, and the resulting over exposure at 1/1000 could bleed outside the frame. If so, a normal Clean-Lubricate-Adjust service from an independent tech would correct it for around $200, a lot less than an M6 costs.
