earleygallery Posted September 23, 2018 Share #41 Posted September 23, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) There's never going to be a perfect time for everyone. I think you just need to choose a date (taking into account initial feedback) and those who can make it will make it. The One Challenge date is pretty much fixed year on year. I can't make it this year but that's the way it is.
Advertisement Posted September 23, 2018 Posted September 23, 2018 Hi earleygallery, Take a look here Long distance One Challenge - New York 2019. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
erl Posted September 24, 2018 Share #42 Posted September 24, 2018 I would opt for April/May dates, but my possibilities of being able to travel are not promising. In the event of being manageable, I would commit to whatever dates are decided.
StS Posted September 24, 2018 Author Share #43 Posted September 24, 2018 I'm happy to vote, May would be a little more difficult for me but could possibly be made to work, I have to be in Prague on May 7th, if the dates were right I could tack it onto the beginning or end of that. Does April 27th work for you? This is the Saturday after the easter weekend. Stefan
mikemgb Posted September 24, 2018 Share #44 Posted September 24, 2018 Does April 27th work for you? This is the Saturday after the easter weekend. Stefan Possibly, after talking with my wife May 4th would be better , but as others have said, choose a date that works for the majority and I will do my best to make it work. Phil U Posted September 25, 2018 Share #45 Posted September 25, 2018 May 4th would put you there for the Cinco de Mayo celebrations on the Sunday. There's a big parade in Brooklyn but also one along the West of Central Park. Good photo opportunities. Good Margaritas.
StS Posted September 25, 2018 Author Share #46 Posted September 25, 2018 Well, if I haven't overlooked a post or PM, May 4th should work well so far for everyone. How is the view of the others? Shall we go for it? Stefan

mikemgb Posted September 25, 2018 Share #48 Posted September 25, 2018 Sitting looking at options with my wife, May 4th would work very well for us, we would certainly make that date.

StS Posted September 28, 2018 Author Share #50 Posted September 28, 2018 No complaints still about 4th of May 2019 - shall we simply go for it? Steafn
A miller Posted September 28, 2018 Share #51 Posted September 28, 2018 (edited) I won't be able to meet up on the 4th as I observe the Jewish Sabbath. But I'd be delighted to meet people the days leading up to and after the 4th of folks are around. For example, I'd be delighted to organize a photowalk in Williamsburg, Brooklyn where I make my challah run on Friday mornings. Perhaps we can even meet super early for the sunrise in Dumbo, Brooklyn between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. I really am a load of fun to shoot with - in any genre. StS Posted September 29, 2018 Author Share #54 Posted September 29, 2018 That happens, if I'm deprived of a proper keyboard ... I won't be able to meet up on the 4th as I observe the Jewish Sabbath. I'm sure there will be lots of occasions for a meeting, since most of us will not only travel in for the weekend. We'll plan a dinner for Saturday evening and can place an order for you after sunset, if this is an option. In any case, we'll keep you informed about the when's and where's and we are typically easy to spot. In case you would like to take part in the competition, I'm sure nobody will object, if we extend the two hours of taking photos until Sunday (apart from the usual rules: one film / 36 digital images, one lens/focal lenght and one camera body, to hand in one final picture, which must comply with forum rules). I'll be in it more for the hospitality.
erl Posted September 30, 2018 Share #58 Posted September 30, 2018 Fine by me, Stefan. If it is too complicated to include me in the competition, then no need to bother. I'll be in it more for the hospitality. Adam, there was a time when the 'shoot time' was a fixed (set) time. In recent years it has been relaxed so that competitors could choose their own two hour window. I am sure nobody would object if you chose your two hours to be on Sunday, under the circumstances. No further organizing would be required.
StS Posted September 30, 2018 Author Share #59 Posted September 30, 2018 Indeed, no bother at all. In case you can't turn up at the café, where we declare the equipment to be used, you can drop a line here, send a PM or ask a friend to name your choice (which film/ISO setting, lens and focal lenght and camera body). We will find a solution. Most of the actual competition happens online anyhow. Although the Challenge is fun and an excellent photographic exercise, half of it is for social reasons, where I'm sure we will have several occasions.
