Unfortunately, posting 'outakes' risks revealing one's identity before judging, but non competition related pics posted immediately could be invigorating.

There was a previous offline discussion, if I understood correctly, the concerns are that someone shows a picture beforehand, which is handed in by someone else as his contribution.

While it can be interesting to discuss, why outtakes were not chosen (I have two pictures, which "do not work" if you think longer about them), we should better start such a thread after the voting is done.

My personal feeling is that it can't hurt to show pictures, which were not taken during the Challenge, we had a forum member visiting New York one week ahead of us, showing his pictures; pictures from New York City are plentiful anyhow. If this is OK for everyone, I personally would be very much in favour of such a gallery (and have to admit I have already shown pictures, which were not taken on the Challenge weekend*.

Just to make sure, since there are two options - wait to show outtakes/pictures from the Challenge weeken until the voting is done or wait to show any pictures from the trip until the voting is done?

I have some rejects that I would love to post.

I'm down to 2 and having a hard time picking just the one.

In my experience, it is a good idea to get a second opinion on which is your best pic. Nearly always 'we' are too close to the moment to be impartial in judging our own work.

Well, traditionally, I share my pre-selection with photographers (none of them part of our parish) or interested people, who know the locations. Typically, everyone prefers a different picture, but the reasons, why a certain picture is preferred are still valuable.

In the end, my ambition is to take a picture, which makes sense in a gallery of good photos. If I'm satisfied with my entry, I'm fine.

Those of us who enjoy following challenges but can’t always attend are missing the usual ‘here we are having a beer’ photos that usually accompany these events. Which usually appear before the judging.

Hate to call him out, but John (Erl) has first class reportage from our Saturday dinner (shot wide open with his lovely noctilux f1) that can keep us all entertained for weeks... 😎

That's just one person and one event...

OK, You asked for it!

Yes I have one or two Noctilux shots (🤩). After walking the dog, I will post some 'dinner' pics as they have no bearing on the competition. (Probably my entry won't either! 😨).

Interestingly, I am asking my second opinions to choose two photos out of five I show them, the three people I have asked so far have all voted for one photo I actually rejected a while ago, that makes my choice even harder! 😀

Here are 20 random pics, all Noctilux, as expected.

I have many more but won't swamp you with them.

Rather tham increase the noise level in the thread, I have posted them in a a clickable proofsheet on my website here.

Enjoy, or just laugh! 😁
