180/3.4 at f/8, R6. I'm a little disappointed for the underexposure.

No, perfect like this, this is much more theatrical/choreographic.

Nice pic !

Those Telyts with just two elements are amazing.

Still a cost effective solution for a 560mm budget price lens … provided its 'manual focus only' is mastered.

Some might consider that its 2 element construction cannot produce images comparable to modern telephoto lenses … but its image footprint is excellent.

I recently dismantled the Telyt mount and cleaned and lubricated the 'trombone roller focus' … so now it's as smooth as silk. Also unscrewed the front elements' mount to clean the lens' rear element … and it cleaned really well i.e.years of rear element haze just wiped off using Eclipse optical cleaner. Also did the same to the Telyt R 400mm which shares the same mount.

Theses lenses often languish for months on dealers' secondhand shelves … the great unloved and unused Telyts … but they are deserving of use and can produce very fine images. And few photographers are aware that they can be used with the Leitz R APO extenders with good results.

A good tripod helps

+1

Some dream of the newest f/1.0 lenses or the newest cameras. Suffering from GAS and from the reviewers, who describe in detail the last 50Mp or 100Mp cameras.

^^^ Leitz Elpros are so useful … but many Leica enthusiasts are unaware of just how useful and cost effective they are … and spend e.g. c.£2000 on a Leica 60mm macro lens to achieve the same results!

I suspect part of the problem is that, for the more technically challenged among us, there are so many versions. Even with the wiki, it isn’t always clear what Elpro matches to which lens. And that’s especially the case when buying on eBay where not all are described accurately.

Does not really matter that much with a 50mm focal length lens … and any achromatic c/u lens of suitable diameter will likely suffice e.g. Marumi, Polaroid, Raynox … this chart lists most of them http://fuzzcraft.com/achromats.html

That chart is helpful, Dunk: thanks. I have 2 sets of the Marumi, which I think are the best substitute, but every time I see a shot with an Elpro, I (think I can) notice the difference.
