Ari Kfir Posted June 26, 2018 Share #1  Posted June 26, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Folks, anybody got personal experience with non Leica made adapters?  While wanting to use my old M-mount lenses on the CL, I am so for reluctant to spend $395 + tax on the E. Leitz version.  Gosh, paid much lens for some of them.  Thanks!
Advertisement Posted June 26, 2018 Posted June 26, 2018 Hi Ari Kfir, Take a look here M lenses to CL body adapter. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
microview Posted June 26, 2018 Share #2 Â Posted June 26, 2018 I think the advantage is that the Leica adapter passes 6-bit coding to CL which makes corrections for specific lens.
ramarren Posted June 26, 2018 Share #3  Posted June 26, 2018 ... and I think I read that without the Leica-made adapter, you will not have magnification assist or something like that.
lct Posted June 26, 2018 Share #4 Â Posted June 26, 2018 No image magnification with the right wheel w/o Leica adapter.

Yes, I do know.  But have no intention to dot code my old lenses.  One can always enter the lens data to CL.

jaapv Posted June 26, 2018 Share #7  Posted June 26, 2018 Advertisement (gone after registration) Unless you want to use image magnification using the arrow buttons, you are stuck with the Leica adapter.
Guest VVJ Posted June 27, 2018 Share #8 Â Posted June 27, 2018 Does it really matter that much whether you activate image magnification with the right wheel or with the buttons?
lct Posted June 27, 2018 Share #9  Posted June 27, 2018 (edited) It does for people disliking to juggle with arrows while taking photographs i guess. At least it does for me. Edited June 27, 2018 by lct
jaapv Posted June 27, 2018 Share #10 Â Posted June 27, 2018 And me. Pressing buttons on the back with the camera at your eye jiggles the thing around. A wheel is more stable -Â and easy to find unseen.
Bill W Posted July 2, 2018 Share #11  Posted July 2, 2018 If you were buying the CL today, it comes with the M adapter L for free.
fotografr Posted July 2, 2018 Share #12  Posted July 2, 2018 I just got the Leica M Adapter L and in reading the list of compatible lenses, I noticed my 90mm Elmarit is not one of them. Looking at the lens mount I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work so I put it on the CL and tried a few shots, Can anyone tell me why I shouldn't be using this lens on my CL?   Welcome, dear visitor! I hadn't checked there. I wonder why they wouldn't also list it in the printed instruction booklet that comes with the adapter?
lct Posted July 3, 2018 Share #15  Posted July 3, 2018 (edited) The booklet has been made for TL cameras if memory serves and i'm not sure it has been updated since then. I would not worry about that. Only M lenses i cannot use on the CL are those protruding too far into the body. Only one 90mm lens is in this case AFAIK, the early Elmar 90/4 collapsible, so the following 90mm lenses can be used with no problem at all as far as my copies are concerned at least: 90/2 v2 & v3, 90/2 apo, 90/2.4, 90/2.8 v1 & v2, 90/2.8 "thin" T-E, 90/4 macro, 90/4 for Leica (film) CL, 90/4 for Minolta CLE. Edited July 3, 2018 by lct
