Very good looking colors.
I’m in a plane on my way to Miami now. Out of the 150 rolls in my bagpack I brought in my one month trip, I have 10 rolls of 50D. Now I know what to expect as the landscape will be similar.

Steven, how did you deal with the airport Xray scanning problem with your 150 "carry-on" rolls of film? Presumably you left from Paris and flew via Florida so that may have meant two security checks?..............Enjoy your trip!

Hi Peter,

Only one security check in Paris. No problem requesting a hand inspection, as expected. No check landing in Miami. When I leave Miami, I know I will have no problem either.

My worry is when I land in cuba. I have had troubles with over concerned immigration officers in the past, in La Havane, and had some belongings confiscated.

I will take an M10R body as back up, and just attach a lens to it in case my film gets scanned and I fear it has been damaged. If they don't scan it, the M10R will not see the light of day. It will stay in the safe of the hotel.

Sort of surprised about things going well in Paris, CDG being an airport that could normally be a little difficult in my experience. It had to be your natural charm that saw you through with them checking all 150 rolls !. La Havane might be the hurdle on the return travel though.........But good luck and enjoy your trip anyway, cheers!

I'm sure you know this anyway, but if you've any suspicion that your unexposed stock has been scanned take one of your fastest films and just shoot 10-15 frames of anything and see if you can get the whole film processed locally ASAP, develop only.......That "test" roll of negs should be able to tell you if Xrays have done any damage en-route.

St. Catherine's Lighthouse near Niton on the Isle of Wight. I quite like to sit at this spot and watch the world go by. It's a surprisingly quiet spot – there's rarely anyone around when I'm there. 28 Summaron-M and Portra 400.

Haha and trust that the weather forecast was rain all day!

My remark wasn't really flippant, it came from from real experience.......I used to have a home high up in the Beacons, ( up from Llangynidr ), through the 70's.......And there were times when it wasn't raining for sure, but a few of those times were when the rain clouds were in the valley below the house and we were above the weather!..........It's a lovely part of the world to live in, I still miss it.........

Here's a "family shot" from that time in the Beacons, and yes, as you see it was raining!

Had to be TriX, a "Christmas Card" self timer photo' probably shot on one of my Nikon F2's or one of the Leica M2's that I owned / used back then.....
